• Conflict can be identified through symptoms such as:

– Tension

– Appeal to supervisor for a decision

– Low trust

– Suspicion

– Gossip

– Lack of cohesion

• Be open minded

• Take control your emotions

5 Ways to Address Conflict

• Accommodate – surrender your views and accept the other party's

• Avoidance – avoid or postpone conflict by ignoring it, changing the subject, etc. "temporary measure to buy time"

• Collaboration – work together to find a mutually beneficial solution

• Compromise – bring the problem into the open and have a mediator

• Competition – assert one's viewpoint at the potential expense of another

• Avoidance → lose-lose situation

• Meet the other party privately to share your views and listen to theirs

• Agree to identify issues, share responsibility & address solve the conflict

• Accept where you were wrong & apologies

• State your fact clearly & listen to the other party when they share theirs

• Agree and commit to move on
