General DescriptionSDMP1 Music Assistant is a multi-purpose tool for SDMP1. With it, you can:

1. Create music files using Pattern Mode and Song Mode, create Kits and configure the SDMP1 for your particular way of working and playing. 2. Playback music files via Pattern and Song Modes. 3. Transfer files between the SDMP1 and your PC. 4. Easily backup files from the SDMP1 to your PC.

InstallationAfter you’ve downloaded or copied the self-extracting application to your desktop, open the executable file in Windows. Your PC will automatically install the program at “C:\\Program Files\SDMP1 Music Assistant.” Note that this is a “by the book” installation and includes standard Windows®* “un-install” capabilities. The program will appear in the Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs list, and in the Start Program menu.

The files included with the SDMP1 Music Assistant are:

File name File description

Sdmp1 Music Assistant. Exe The application

Help. chm HTML help file

Cnfg_Pro. ini The configure file of the program

Resource folder A folder including picture resource

Backup folder A default folder to save backup files

Upload folder A folder including others default folders to save upload files

Getting StartedThe Music Assistant has five user interfaces or Modes:

Pattern – Create, playback, and save Pattern files. Song – Create, playback, and save Song files. Kit – Create Kit files that can be modified and saved. Configuration – Create configuration files, which can be modified and saved. Backup - Backup all files to your PC.

All Modes require MIDI. For example, if you want to upload/download files, a MIDI device must be selected. The SDMP1 uses the standard MIDI file dump protocol. If you wish to playback a Pattern or Song, you will need a MIDI Out device.

To select your MIDI In and MIDI Out devices before using the program, go to the Option>MIDI Device menu. The program will remember your settings on startup.

*Windows® is a registered trademark of the Microsoft Corporation.

Note: If you upload files with no path selected, the program will automatically save files to these folders: 1. Pattern files will be saved to the Upload\Ptn folder. 2. Song files will be saved to the Upload\Song folder. 3. Kit files will be saved to the Upload\Kit folder. 4. Configuration files will be saved to the Upload\Map folder. 5. Backup files will be saved to the Backup folder.

You can change these paths anytime using the Option>Path Setting menu.
