    Our Beliefs

    Article 1 Preamble

Because of our love for Christ, His gospel and His church, Indian River Baptist Church is

committed to the inerrancy, infallibility, sufficiency, and authority of the Scripture.

!bove all, "e"ish to ground our belief and practice fully and completely in #od$s revealed %ord. %e

commend our Church body to the propagation and defense of the #ospel as "e are fully

convinced that the #ospel is the ground on "hich the church stands or falls. &his #ood 'e"s is

historical (the persons and events of the #ospel, as recorded in the Scriptures, have actually

occurred), biblical (Scripture is the only authoritative ground for understanding the "or* of

Christ), and intensely personal ("here it is received, believed, and held firmly, individual persons

are saved). %e proclaim our commitment to contend for the faith once for all delivered.

    Article 2 Our Confessional Heritage

%e recogni+e that the Church of our ord -esus Christ has eisted throughout centuries and

cultures for the past /,000 years. In the face of persecution, false teaching, and biblical neglect, congregations faithful to the %ord of #od have "ritten Confessions and Creeds to summari+e *ey

itself Christianity is nothing other than age1old heresies in modern garb. 2et the Church has been

called to be a 3pillar and buttress4 of truth ( &imothy 567), and for this reason "e declare our

adherence to the follo"ing creeds and confessions8"hich 3"e do "illingly receive4 as
