T he NEWEA Small Community Committee is hosting a specialty conference addressing the challenges small communities are facing with new nitrogen and phosphorous removal requirements. Speakers will focus on the drivers for lower permit limits, low cost strategies to achieve nutrient reduction, and ways to finance significant capital upgrades. Information will be presented from a diverse group of speakers from watershed advocacy groups, to regional planners and consultants. Following a series of presentations in the morning participants are invited to participate in a boat tour of Narragansett Bay after lunch which will highlight recent water quality improvements and future work.
