Dear colleagues,

On behalf of the Committees, It is our great pleasure to welcome you to Solo for International Conference on Engineering, Science and Nanotechnology 2016 (ICESNANO

2016) held at The Alana Hotel & Convention Center - Solo, INDONESIA on August 3 (Wed) 5 (Fri), 2016. The joint committee between Mechanical Engineering Department, Sebelas Maret University (UNS) and Microelectronics & Nanotechnology - Shamsuddin Research Centre or MiNT-SRC, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) are very proud to be performing the first ICESNANO 2016. In this year, the conference theme is “Empowering innovation in engineering, science and nanotechnology”. This conference aims to communicate and distribute knowledge of fundamental and applied research in the field of engineering, science and nanotechnology. It also provides the premier interdisciplinary forum for participants to present and discuss the most recent innovations and practical challenges in this field.

We are very proud and honored to have a welcoming and opening speech by Prof. Dr. Ravik Karsidi, M.S. (Rector of UNS) and Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohd Noh Dalimin (Vice-chancellor of UTHM), respectively. We would like to great thank the keynote speakers given by Prof. Abdul Latif Ahmad (Universiti Sains Malaysia), Prof. Akio Miyara (Saga University) and Assoc Prof. Takahiko Miyazaki (Kyushu University), who will present their recent work and will give new insights and ideas to the conference participants. SOLO AT A GLANCE

Surakarta or more famous as Solo is lying across in fertile plain terrain along the longest river in Java, Bengawan or River Solo. Flanked by mountain volcanoes Merapi and Merbabu in the north, and mount Lawu in the southeast border, is famous as a stronghold and center of Javanese culture and tradition. Surakarta, is the cradle of Javanese culture, with two royal houses in one single city: the Kraton of Solo and the Mangkunegaran, a principality. Descendants of these two royal houses are still considered leaders of Javanese culture and traditions. Majestic ceremonies and royal festivals are still held with great affectation nowadays. Surakarta or Solo (550000 inhabitants) draws its name from the longest river of Java, which passes in this city. It was the capital of the kingdom of Mataram from 1745 to 1755. There are many Becak (rickshaws decorated with naive scenes) croos the city. Solo offers an incredible list of eateries also popular far beyond the city. Solo today remains a distinctly Central Javanese with an elegance all its own. It is one of the centers of batik and other Javanese fabrics, and souvenir hunters may find exquisite ‘objects d’art” and ornate trinkets in the local markets. Those interested in old, Javanese culture and art should not miss Solo. Solo is called the city that never sleeps. From the evening throughout the whole night one can always find something to eat or buy, as vendors of all kinds as well as small food-stalls remain active and open 24 hours. Home of two royal houses with centuries of power and influence over the city. There are nice inns and hotels in Selo for accommodation. This place was a famous holiday resort of Surakarta Royal Families. Solo is Surakarta’s commercial as well as its administrative center, and produce from the surrounding desa fills the markets every day. Solo produces cigarettes, herbal medicines and various other light industry products, but batik is far and away the most important manufacturing activity in the city. Batik is a traditional textile working process involving the use of wax to cover the cloth in patterns and thus control the areas affected by dying. In the traditional process, batik tulis (“written batik”) hot wax is applied with incredible patience and skill with an instrument that looks like a pipe but is used like a pen. The women and girls sit circled around an often-smoky little burner that heats the wax. Many of the larger houses participate in the batik industry, with an area set aside for a covey of from 10 to 30 women and girls, who usually come from the village (desa). Really skilled workers are generally old, and the present level of batik production is not likely to continue in economically developing Java as alternative, less demanding activities absorb more of this cheap labor. Sangiran Museum is located in Kalijambe, Sragen, 15 km north of Solo City. It is prehistorically museum that contains of fossil of human civilization from two million years ago. This museum is built on archeological are Sangiran with the coverage 56 km square. Sangiran with this site is a complete and important observation arena about the life of prehistoric people in the world that can use for the anthropology, archeology, geology, and paleoanthropology. Sukuh temple

The Sukuh and Cetho Temples are magnificent Javanese-Hindu temples and sandwiched between East and Central Java. This attraction is quite mysterious and is rather Inca-like in its structure, resembling a truncated pyramid in appearance. The Sukuh and Cetho Temples are to be found approximately 36 kilometers / 22 miles to the east of Solo and features innumerable crude sculptures and carvings which are around 500 years old, although they appear to be more like they were created in the 5th or 6th century. Close by, a trail leads down the hill and towards Tawangmangu. Astana Giribangun

Close to Karangpandan, a busy road heads southward from the main Solo to Tawangmangu road and towards the burial hill attractions of Mangadeg. For just a small donation you are able to visit the elaborate graves of the Mangkunegoro family and enjoy the spectacular surrounding scenery, with views that seem to go on forever. Close by and still within the sacred hills is a further opulent burial site - the Astana Giribangun. Kasunanan Palace

Kraton Kasunanan Kasunanan Palace is also known as Keraton Surakarta Hadiningrat was built in 1745 by King Pakubuwono the 2nd. The Palace is the first thing known upon the discovery of Solo City. Inside of the palace, there is an exotic art gallery and a museum with royal heirlooms of the kingdom. A cart and its coachman, ancient weapons including keris (Javanese Traditional Weapon), and also antique matters. In the yard of the palace there is a tower called Panggung Sanggabuwana, a mysterious tower as a place for the king to meet the ruler of the Southern Sea

Close to the center of the modern city is the smaller palace, Keraton Mangkunegaran. Built in 1757 after a bitter struggle against the founder of Surakarta, Pakubuwono II, by his nephew Raden Mas Said, who was later crowned Pangeran Mangkunegoro I. Although smaller, this Keraton is more intact and is a bit more interesting than its bigger neighbor. The royal family still lives at the back of the palace, but most of the rest is open to the public for guided tours. Sepur Kluthuk 'Jaladara'

Old-fashioned steam train, known as Sepur Kluthuk Jaladara will invite you to tour around various places of interest in Solo. Interestingly, the railway line is directly on the side of the city’s main street, without borders. When stepping in Jaladara, you can enjoy the beauty of Solo City along the route. You will also have the opportunity to shop and visit historical attractions in some areas between Sangkrah and Purwosari Stations. Some of the destinations visited include Pusat Grosir Solo (PGS), Beteng Trade Center (BTC), Batik Danar Hadi, Radya Pustaka Museum, and the mayor’s official residence Loji Gandung. Batik Danar Hadi Museum

Batik Danar Hadi Museum The history of Batik Danar Hadi also began in Solo City, when H. Santosa Doellah and his wife Hj. Danarsih Santosa decided to start their batik business in 1967.The name Danar Hadi itself was actually a combination of two names; Ibu Danarsih and her father H.Hadipriyono. "Galeri Batik Kuno Danar Hadi" is located at the centre of Surakarta, at Jl. Brigjen. Slamet Riyadi No. 261-263, at the main street of Surakarta. Triwindu Antique Market Also known as Windujenar Market, Triwindu Antique Market is located on Jalan Diponegoro, not far from the Mangkunegaran Palace in Solo. Upon entering the market complex, you will be greeted by a pair of statues – a man and a woman sitting in the cross-legged position. Solely dedicated to the sale of antiques, the atmosphere in Triwindu differs from other markets. The building itself, wherein the market is situated, is a two-storey, wooden structure that has stood since 1945, adding to the “antique” feel of the market.

Ngarsopuro Night Market in Solo City Ngarsopuro Night Market is a night market in the city of Solo, which can be visited on a Saturday night and Sunday night. The region was once lined with electronic shops and was less organized. Since 2009, the area was transformed into a very beautiful place and worth visiting by children, teenage couples, families and groups who want to fill the weekend with relaxing and inexpensive activities. Some products and souvenirs are commonly found here include a variety of Solo souvenirs of clothes, bags, batik-accentuated shoes, pins and stickers which are all unique and interesting. In addition, at the Night Market Ngarsopuro there are also many street foods and snacks ready to pamper your taste bud, such as Nasi Liwet, Cabuk Rambak, Wedang Ronde, Solo Sausage, Meatball Grill, Sate Kere, etc.

Batik Village Laweyan

Batik Village Laweyan Kampoeng Batik (Batik Village) Laweyan is a village of 24.83 hectares and about 2,500 citizens living in it. Laweyan is the oldest Batik Village in Indonesia and is one of the Batik central in Solo. This village was the icon of Batik Solo. Since the 19th century, this village was known as batik village. The traditional batik art masterpieces continue to be performed by Laweyan’s society until now. The surrounding situation of batik making activities in the past, predominated by the existence of batik entrepreneur as the owner of batik business. PARALLEL SESSION ORAL PRESENTATION GENERAL GUIDELINES

ICESNANO 2016 committees are very pleased to have you as a parallel session speaker during the conference at the Alana Hotel & Convention Center, Solo on August 3 (Wed) ~ 4 (Thu), 2016. The following guidelines provide you with basic information about the oral presentation.

General instructions

1. A parallel session has 8-10 speakers presented their works. Each presenter is given a maximum of 10 minutes to make the oral presentation including Q &A sessions. Please, refer to the conference program book or schedule to find your assigned schedule and session.

2. A speaker is encouraged to utilize the Microsoft power point software for the oral presentation.

3. All the presentation and other related materials such as videos and pictures should be reviewed or updated by the oral presenter before Parallel Session start.

4. Parallel session rooms are equipped with master computers and a laser pointer. Thus no personal computers will be allowed for the presentations during the parallel sessions.

Guidelines Prior to the Conference

1. All oral presenters are advised to fill a conference registration form. Please, find a conference registration form at the official website.

2. Verify that 3. A preliminary program is provided to all the oral presenters with these

guidelines. The final program of ICESNANO 2016 will be uploaded at the beginning in August 2016.

Guidelines during the Session

1. Presenters are advised to bring an extra copy/back up file of their presentation saved in a USB saving device, CD and/or DVD in case their files in the master computers would not work.

2. The session chairs are expected to make sure that the session starts on time and that all speakers remain within the time allotted for their presentation. The Chair introduces the speakers and moderates Q & A session from the audience.

PARALLEL SESSION POSTER PRESENTATION GENERAL GUIDELINES

A poster presentation session is a one-to-one informal discussion between presenters and their audience on a conference-related theme. Presenters post their research design and findings on a poster board; i.e., a brief text clearly labeled and illustrated by photos, charts, graphs, tables. ICESNANO 2016 presenters will be exhibiting their posters either on August 4 (Thur), 2016. The posters should be set up on August 3 (Wed), 2016 after Keynote and Plenary Sessions. The technical committee will be available for help in the poster area this day.

Please read the following guidelines and information before you begin to create your poster presentation.

1. The poster presentation is printed with the banner size of 16060 cm2 on

MMT media as shown in the folowing figure and it is returned to the author. Note: Kindly use your own template to create poster presentation.

2. The posters must be written in English (U.S) including a title, names of authors and affiliations, abstract, introduction, materials and methods, results and discussion, conclusions (the last paragraph of the discussion), and references (max. 5).

3. You are strongly advised to attend the Interactive Poster Session to answer questions.

4. The posters not displayed at the suggested set-up times may not be considered for a poster award and publication in AIP Conference Proceedings.
