What you need Conext ComBox and its AC/DC power adapter USB thumb drive, micro-SD card, paper clip computer desktop/laptop, ethernet cables access to the internet web browser - IE 10+, Firefox 34+, Chrome 31+ Scope This document summarizes the important steps involved in setting up your access to Conext Insight portal to start monitoring your PV sites with Conext ComBox installed. Refer to the Owner’s and Installation Guides of the Conext ComBox for detailed information on the settings. Quick Setup 1. Make sure the Conext ComBox is connected to the internet by cable using the network router and that it is receiving power through its AC/DC power adapter and NOT by Xanbus. 2. Make sure that Conext ComBox has a firmware version of v3.00 or higher. AC/DC power adapter to a power source Power source network router Ethernet cables 2A. To check the firmware version of ComBox via the web user interface: a. Open a web browser and log in to the ComBox web user interface (refer to ComBox Owner’s Guide for instructions on Logging In or proceed to Step 2B). b. From the left panel, select ComBox Configuration -> Status -> ComBox Version c. Look under Field for Application Version and the Value should be Ver03.00BN0707 or higher. If true, proceed to Step 3. If not, proceed to Step 2C to update. 2B. To check the firmware version of ComBox via System Information page on a USB thumb drive: a. Insert a USB thumb drive into the ComBox USB Host data port. b. Wait until the Memory LED finishes flashing five times then remove the USB thumb drive. c. Insert the USB thumb drive into a USB port of a desktop/laptop. d. Look for and double-click an HTML file with the name format <serialnumber>.html. e. Inside the System Information web page that opens, verify that the Application Version is Ver03.00BN0707 or higher. If true, proceed to Step 3. If not, proceed to Step 2C to update. NOTE: Conext Insight currently does not support remote monitoring of PV plants with a ComBox Master-Slave configuration. NOTE: Conext Insight currently does not support remote monitoring of pure grid-tie sites using the GT series of inverters.

ScopeThis document summarizes the important steps involved in setting up your access to Conext Insight portal to start monitoring your PV sites with Conext ComBox installed. Refer to the Owner’s and Installation Guides of the Conext ComBox for detailed information on the settings.

Quick Setup1. Make sure the Conext ComBox is connected to the internet by cable using the network router and that it is receiving power through its AC/DC power adapter and NOT by Xanbus.

2. Make sure that Conext ComBox has a firmware version of v3.00 or higher.

2A. To check the firmware version of ComBox via the web user interface: a. Open a web browser and log in to the ComBox web user interface (refer to ComBox Owner’s Guide for instructions on Logging In or proceed to Step 2B). b. From the left panel, select ComBox Configuration -> Status -> ComBox Version c. Look under Field for Application Version and the Value should be Ver03.00BN0707 or higher. If true, proceed to Step 3. If not, proceed to Step 2C to update. 2B. To check the firmware version of ComBox via System Information page on a USB thumb drive: a. Insert a USB thumb drive into the ComBox USB Host data port. b. Wait until the Memory LED finishes flashing five times then remove the USB thumb drive. c. Insert the USB thumb drive into a USB port of a desktop/laptop. d. Look for and double-click an HTML file with the name format <serialnumber>.html. e. Inside the System Information web page that opens, verify that the Application Version is Ver03.00BN0707 or higher. If true, proceed to Step 3. If not, proceed to Step 2C to update.

2C. To update the firmware version of ComBox using a USB thumb drive: a. [From 2A] Insert the USB thumb drive into a USB port of a desktop/laptop. [From 2B] Retain the USB thumb drive still inserted in the USB port of the desktop/laptop. b. Open a web browser and go to http://solar.schneider-electric.com/product/conext-combox/. c. Click DOWNLOADS. d. Click Firmware. e. Click the ZIP file containing the latest firmware (usually the top item on the list). Depending on the browser type, the ZIP file downloads to the local hard drive automatically. f. Look for the ZIP file, unZIP it, and copy the *.bdl file onto the USB thumb drive’s root directory. g. Turn off power to the ComBox by pulling out the power plug from the unit.

h. While pressing and holding the Reset button (with a paper clip), turn on power to the ComBox by inserting the power plug into the unit. i. Release the Reset button only after observing that the Power LED is blinking and the Status LED is steady (takes 25-30 seconds). j. Remove the USB thumb drive from the desktop/laptop and insert it into the ComBox’s USB Host port. The Memory LED lights up. k. Wait 1½ -2 minutes for the Xanbus LED to also light up. l. Wait for another 5-6 minutes for the firmware upgrade to complete. The Power LED lights up steady when the upgrade is completed. m. Remove the USB thumb drive from the USB Host port. n. Returning to the desktop/laptop, clear the web browser cache. o. Log in to the ComBox web user interface.

3. Insert a micro-SD card into the micro-SD card slot. The micro-SD card serves to store data from the ComBox which Conext Insight uses as its data source while connected via the internet.

4. Go to ComBox Configuration, then Settings, then Conext Insight Web Portal section of the Conext ComBox web user interface.5. Select Enable Data Push To Conext Insight and save the setting.6. Leave Enable Data Push Synchronization unchecked. Do not enable this setting.7. Leave Data Push Synchronization String empty.8. Click the button under Test Web Portal Connection.9. Check the value of the Web Portal Status. Ensure it displays .10. Log in to the Conext Insight portal with your Login credentials at http://conextinsight.schneider-electric.com/.

If you do not have a Conext Insight online account, go to section of this guide for instructions on how to register an online account. Then proceed to the next step below.11. Register your PV site by clicking on the button on the home page.12. Enter all required (*) Site Details information.13. Click the button when done entering all information. The New Site is registered and you will be brought immediately to the new site’s webpage.14. Click the tab. 15. Click the button. The Add ComBox window appears.

16. Enter all required (*) information under “Add ComBox”. NOTE: The MAC ID and Serial No. can be found on the ComBox unit

on its back side. The MAC ID must match the MAC address of the unit exactly (including the case and the separator characters).

17. Click the button. NOTE: Once the ComBox is successfully added to your site, Conext Insight automatically starts monitoring the new site. 18. Click to see monitoring details about the new site.

The New User Registration webpage appears.

2. Enter all required (*) information under “New User Registration” including a valid Email address .

Registering a New Conext Insight Online Account1. In the Login webpage: http://conextinsight.schneider-electric.com/, click on

New Registration.

3. Click the button when done entering all information. You will be brought back to the Login webpage with a displayed

message.

4. Check your email and click on the activation link in the email message to complete the New Registration process.

NOTE: If you do not receive an email message within a few minutes, check your Spam or Junk folder and set your email account to receive future email messages from the following sender domain: @conextinsightproduction.cloudapp.net.

16. Enter all required (*) information under “Add ComBox”. NOTE: The MAC ID and Serial No. can be found on the ComBox unit
