    TecScan develops ultrasonic immersion systems ranging from small immersion scanners for laboratory environments to large multi-axisscanners for industrial applications. These scanners are custom designed and built to suit clients' needs & requirements. Ultrasonic immersionscanners are modular systems composed of mechanical and ultrasonic components that are all controlled by real-time, data acquisition andanalysis software package TecView UT.

    Typical configuration consists of three motorized axes (X, Y, Z) additional axes such as manual or motorized swivel/gimbal assemblies, customdesigned turn tables & bar stock indexers can be incorporated to the system. The immersion tank is made of welded steel tube structure and aheavy duty stainless steel tank with acrylic windows.     EMAT technology is an ultrasonic non destructive testing method that differs from thetraditional piezoelectric transducers in the way the sound is generated. In traditional ultrasoundtechnology a piezoelectric crystal is used to convert electrical energy into mechanicalvibration. The vibration makes its way into the test piece via the couplant.

    An EMAT consists of a magnet & a coil of wire and relies on electro-magnetic acousticinteraction for elastic wave generation. Using Lorentz forces and magnetostriction, the EMAT &the metal test surface interact and generate an acoustic wave within the material. The materialbeing inspected is its own transducer, eliminating the need for liquid couplant.

    The hardness testing principle in Equostat 3 follows the Rockwellstationary test. During measurements with the Equostat 3 probe, adiamond indenter is forced into the test piece to be measured & thenreleased back out of the material.
