Career Description Computer network administrators design, install, and support an organization's network infrastructure. Businesses, governments, and other organizations use computer hardware and software every day. They use individual computer sta- tions, printers, and scanners that connect to servers. Each organiza- tion uses software programs that differ from department to depart- ment. For example, the accounting department may use mostly financial software. Management may use mostly word processing and spreadsheet software. A system may also include Internet and e-mail software that is vulnerable to attacks by computer viruses. These diverse computer systems, also called networks, are moni- tored and maintained by computer network administrators. Computer network administrators plan, coordinate, and direct the computer-related activities of an organization. They make sure all parts of a computer network work to meet the organization's goals. Network administrators may also direct the work of other computer specialists such as analysts, programmers, and technicians. Computer network administrators provide day-to-day support for software users. For example, they may train people how to use soft- ware or help troubleshoot problems. As a nontraditional student, I found the courses to be challenging, very thorough, and gave me a great feeling of accomplishment. The instructors were extremely knowledgeable and concerned about the success of their students. I would highly recommend CLC’s program to anyone seeking a career in computer technology.” Kevin 2004 graduate “CLC provides a great atmosphere for learning about computer technolo- gy. The hands on experience, both in the classroom and lab environ- ments, is unbeatable. It is the key tool for proper understanding and learning of technologies in the computer realm. It is better to show someone how to do something rather than tell them.” Erick 2004 graduate Brainerd Campus Admissions Office 501 West College Drive, Brainerd, MN 56401 218.855.8037 or 800.933.0346 www .clcmn.edu
