Career Description Computer network administrators design, install, and support an organization's network infrastructure. Businesses, governments, and other organizations use computer hardware and software every day. They use individual computer sta- tions, printers, and scanners that connect to servers. Each organiza- tion uses software programs that differ from department to depart- ment. For example, the accounting department may use mostly financial software. Management may use mostly word processing and spreadsheet software. A system may also include Internet and e-mail software that is vulnerable to attacks by computer viruses. These diverse computer systems, also called networks, are moni- tored and maintained by computer network administrators. Computer network administrators plan, coordinate, and direct the computer-related activities of an organization. They make sure all parts of a computer network work to meet the organization's goals. Network administrators may also direct the work of other computer specialists such as analysts, programmers, and technicians. Computer network administrators provide day-to-day support for software users. For example, they may train people how to use soft- ware or help troubleshoot problems. Program Information The Computer Network Administration degree is one of the most exciting tracks offered by CLC. Course work includes general net- working technologies, network troubleshooting, operating system technologies, disaster recovery, computer repair and security funda- mentals. This program covers an overview of networking technolo- gies that graduates can expect to work with in small to mid-size organization settings. CLC’s IT instructors are industry certified professionals with multi- ple years of experience in their respective disciplines both in the classroom and in industry. Certification This program will help students prepare for the following certifi- catins: Microsoft MCSE, MCSA, MCP, MCDST; CompTIAA+, Network+, Server+, Security+, and others. Central Lakes College is a VUE Authorized Test Center. All certifica- tions exams can be delivered onsite. Career Titles The studies in this program wil help students prepare for careers in Networking such as MCSE, MCSA, Network Administrator, Network Engineer, Systems Analyst, LAN Administrator, WAN Administrator, Network Security Specialist and Systems Engineer.
