Advantages and Disadvantages of CALL


Advantages Students learn actively Motivating, Flexible and provocative

(Sussex, Cumming & Cropp (1994a)) Time saving for students as well as

teachers. Cost effectiveness


Encourage reading habits Offers freedom for user to choose any

topic of information Interest and motivated Self study A compatible learning style Optimal use of learning time


Disadvantages Viewing for the financial point, CAL is

costly enough Unable to be applied in remote area

which computer and internet were not enough.

Lack of trained teacher Inability to handle unexpected situations Imperfect current CALL programs


Conclusion

CALL is an approach to language teaching and learning which computer technology is an aid.

CALL has advantages and also disadvantages

The use of CALL with some samples can make the process of language teaching and learning more alive.
