Computer Aided Design About the Class CAD (Computer Aided Design) software is used by designers, inventors, engineers, architects, artists and most anyone needing to transform ideas into physical reality. In the CAD environment, virtual components are created in 3 dimension and combined to create complex working assemblies. The form, fit, function, and tolerance can be evaluated and working specifications derived from the CAD models in the form of 2-dimensional CAD drawings. In manu- facturing, most design specifications are communicated using a CAD platform. Modern advanced manufacturing equipment gets its command information from CAD as well, either directly from the CAD model (3D printing) or via a secondary platform known as CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing). The CAD module is suited for individuals who wish to gain an understanding of the software tool used extensively in the areas of design, engineering, and manufacturing. Those interested in CNC (Computer Numeric Control) programming and CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) will also benefit. MTS certifications are equivalent to AMSE Y14.5 - 2009.
