Anthem: — arr. Robert W. Smith..............................SVA Band

Scripture Lesson: ..........................................................Karen CavinessSo here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life–your sleeping, eating,going-to-work, and walking-around life–and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for youis the best thing you can do for Him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it withouteven thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize whatHe wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to itslevel of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

“Knowing God’s Will”Message #3 in series: You Asked for It!

I. Struggling with God’s Will

II. Mything out on God’s Will

A. Myth #1: God’s will is something _____________________.

B. Myth #2: God’s will is something _____________________.

C. Myth #3: God’s will is something _____________________.

III. Knowing God’s Will

A. We know that it is God’s will for every person _____________________. (2 Peter 3:9) The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

(1 Timothy 2:3-4) This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

B. We know that it is God’s will for every person _____________________. (Ephesians 5:17) Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.

C. We know that it is God’s will for every person _____________________. (1 Thessalonians 4:3-8) It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit.

IV. Doing God’s Good, Pleasing and Perfect will(Romans 12:1-2) Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy,

to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
