Cycling Australia welcome

I am delighted to welcome everyone to Bathurst for Rounds #3 and #4 of the always exciting UCI BMX Supercross World Cup.

I would like to acknowledge the Wiradjuri People the Traditional Owners of the land on which we are gathered, and pay my respects to their Elders both past and present.

Cycling Australia is very excited to present a UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in Australia for the first time. We have a long and proud tradition of participation and excellence in BMX, so it’s particularly pleasing to have this event on Australian soil.

Over two days at the Bathurst BMX Track, we will witness some of the world’s very best supercross cyclists racing as they chase glory towards the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

I would also like to recognise the Sport Australia for its guidance and significant commitment as Cycling Australia’s principal partner.

We would also like to recognise all the event staff and volunteers.

We hope you enjoy the action.

Duncan Murray,

Chair, Cycling Australia

Mayoral welcome

Bathurst is known internationally for car races at Mount Panorama, especially the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 and the Liqui Moly 12 Hour. The city is also home to a range of world-class sporting facilities and is set to debut on the world BMX stage in February 2020.

Bathurst is excited to host one of two Australian rounds of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup with the other being held in Shepparton, Victoria.

Council has invested in a world class BMX track capable of hosting international events and the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup will bring hundreds of competitors from across the globe to Bathurst. Some of those competing are likely to take to the world stage again later next year when they compete at the summer Olympics in Tokyo.

The city is ready to welcome the BMX fraternity for the event and we look forward to seeing you in February and look forward to watching all the BMX action on track.

Cr Bobby Bourke,

Mayor,

Bathurst Regional Council
