02 Assignment: Welcome to the GMiS Earth Mission Program! We are excited to have you on board as we seek to learn about Earth and its natural systems that affect our cli- mate. In preparation for the Mission, GMiS would like to learn more about each of the candidates in the program. By understanding the skills, expertise, and training that each team member brings, GMiS will maximize the success and effectiveness of its teams. Therefore, each member is asked to prepare a “live resume” by recording a video that conveys his/her background, educational training and career goals. This recording will serve as an “elevator pitch” that succinctly captures the student’s professional aspirations and industries of interest. The student member should let their excitement, passion and fun nature come across in the recording. The video recording should be no less than 30 seconds and up to one minute in duration. Scoring Criteria: 10 points – Clearly identifies him/her/themselves (name, university, clas- sification and major, etc.) 10 points – Clearly conveys career goals and aspirations 10 points – Technical interests and industries of interest are shared 10 points – Order of information shared flows well 10 points – Conveys positivity, energy and passion via the “live resume” Requirements: Each student member of the team must submit a personal virtual resume recording following the criteria and guidelines outlined above. Length of video recording should be no less than 30 seconds and no longer than 1 minute; Points deducted for not meeting time requirements. Coaches will need to post the YouTube links for their students on the College Bowl portal. There should be a link posted for each student member on the team. Assignment:The GMiS Space Exploration Board believes that the ideas, insights, and per-spectives gathered from diverse groups of people always leads to better out-comes and greater success. Learning to work in teams is challenging, and requires comprise, collaboration and good communication. The best teams are those that embrace diversity and inclusion, and value the contributions of each member. For this assignment, begin by learning about the NASA Artemis Project and its six subprograms. Define a new 7th subprogram your team would create to further advance space exploration and habitation on other planets. Also, considering the strengths and skills of your diverse members, determine what would be your team’s best contributions to the Artemis Project.Prepare a video recording of your team showcasing your proposed 7th subprogram for the Artemis Project, and the contributions your team members can bring to space exploration. Demonstrate in your showcasing your team’s excitement about your recommendations and contributions, and the collaborative process used to reach consensus.

Scoring Criteria:• 10 points - Good rationale to support proposed 7th subprogram• 10 points - Showcasing of team’s potential contributions towards future space exploration• 10 points - Demonstration of team’s approach towards reaching consensus• 10 points - Humor and levity were interjected in the delivery and content • 10 points - All team members participated in the showcasing

Mission 02Exploring Beyond our Galaxy

Assignment:Your team is excited to be invited to design games to help pass the time as people travel in space and live on the Moon. You work on designing four board games that are creative, innovative, and entertaining. You remember what you learned about the Artemis Project and consider the adjustments you need to make for being successful.

Strategically showcase your four board games to convince the GMiS Space Explo-ration Board to select your team’s designs. Make a video recording of your team demonstrating the games. Include in your messaging the environmental and being in space challenges you took into consideration. Furthermore, provide the resource limitations you overcame. Every member of the team should be involved in the designing of the games and in the showcasing.

Scoring Criteria:• 10 points - Clearly showcased four distinct board games - 10 points• 10 points - Creativity and innovation demonstrated in the design and presentation of the board games• 10 points - Communicated the factors and challenges taken into consideration • 10 points - Every member of the team participated – 10 points• 10 points - The showcasing is humorous and playful

Requirements:• Length of recording should be no less than 1 minute and 30 seconds and no longer than 3 minutes; Points deducted for not meeting time requirements• The team video must be uploaded to YouTube and the YouTube link must be posted onto the College Bowl portal by the deadline; • Official time submission of the video will count as the time the YouTube link is posted onto the CB portal• Coaches can work with the students throughout the entirety of Competition #3 and until the submission deadline. Coaches may be seen in the recording but cannot participate in the showcasing.• Props are allowed for this competition. • Team members can use the internet.

Mission 03The Space Games We Play!

Assignment:The success of the GMiS Space Exploration Program has been outstanding and the Lunar Base Camp Mission has gone extremely well. This excitement has attract-ed a great number of people willing to live on the Moon. Every day new research is being conducted about future space exploration, and on sustain-ability and living on the Moon. Your team’s experience of living on the Moon has taught you to be resourceful, practical, and collaborative. Create an unexpected scenario that occurs on the Moon which requires your team to work together to address and resolve it. Base on the scenario, showcase on what you have learned about the space environment and living on the Moon. Your team is resourceful about the options and resources found on the Moon. Submit a recording of your team showcasing the scenario that you created, what lead to the situation, how you collaborated as a team and the outcome.

Scoring Criteria:• 10 points – Scenario is based on knowledge learned about space and/or Lunar environmental conditions• 10 points – Demonstration of team’s collaboration and resourcefulness• 10 points – Resolution is creative and innovative• 10 points – Approach is presented in a playful and humorous manner• 10 points – Every member of the team participated
