Tranex Barriers PropositionWhat makes Tranex Barriers unique is that we have guardrail barrier manufactured exclusively for us. Our manufacturing specifications exceed the Australian Standard in critical areas such as galvanising coating and manufacturing tolerances.

Given the complexity and the overlapping of barrier specifications throughout Australia we developed and produced a blue print specification for wbeam that is guaranteed to exceed any interpretation of any current specification in use in Australia.

In our own early research and development testing we found that we could not source local product that met the high standard we were requiring. In fact local product was often not attaining the Australian Standard.

To us this represented not only a risk for our clients, but also an opportunity for us to differentiate our product by significantly raising the standard. As a independent guardrail supplier in a specialised field, quality assurance could be our slogan.

Over a period of five years we searched the world for the highest consistent quality product, having samples produced by leading manufacturers in USA, Italy, UK, China and Spain. However the supplier with the most superior galvanising coating process, offering consistent base metal thickness (BMT) and with manufacturing tolerances far exceeding Australian and American, is based in South Korea.

South Korea is the world leader in steel manufacturing, with quality never less than ISO9001 standard. Our manufacturer employs highly trained engineers and utilises advanced technology. All the products they produce for us have exceeded strict barrier testing regulations.

Tranex Barriers are deemed the manufacturer under Australian Trade law which means the product is stamped with the Tranex Barriers brand and TranEx Group carries the warranty and liability for which we are comprehensively insured. We also of course now enjoy the technical, financial and product warranty backing of a $USD100M global company. Tranex Barriers wbeam is quickly becoming the undisputed industry benchmark.

Balloon Rail Loop Project, Wiggins Island, Gladstone, QldThe Wiggins Island Rail Loop Project involved the development of new rail lines and upgrades to existing lines to service the new Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal at the Port of Gladstone, QLD; this incorporated 13km of construction, including 8000m of wbeam barrier.

Tranex Barriers partnered with Abigroup Contractors (now Lend Lease) to supply and install barriers. With all product and installation required to meet stringent TMR specifications, we were determined to exceed expectations through our stringent quality control and reporting procedures.

Although deadlines were challenging, we knew we would deliver! Tranex Barriers co-ordinated crews and materials to get meters on the ground … fast. Our current record for guardrail barrier installation in one day is 668m, with all posts driven, rail hung and bolts fastened.

Tarkine Forest Drive North West TasmaniaUnlike many places in the world, the Tarkine remains a hidden, pristine wilderness. Tasmanian civil construction contractor, Hazell Bros, was awarded the $23 million contract to widen and seal existing roads from Arthur River township to Tavetea Bridge, as well as upgrading tourism infrastructure. Our team were contracted by Hazell Bros for the supply and installation of wbeam guardrail, end treatments, road signage and guide posts. The working environment was tough – one of the most remote roads on the planet on Tasmania’s rugged, unforgiving, yet stunning West Coast, where snow falls to sea level and it rains 310 days of the year. This is the type of challenge that Tranex Barriers enjoys and excels at.

Meticulous planning and a well-resourced team, not only at the coal face, but importantly in our Tasmanian warehouses and our own distribution centre, means that every process from manufacture to installation is controlled by Tranex Barriers. A well organised and responsive administration team also plays a key part in things going smoothly on the ground.

Working in this unique and environmentally sensitive rainforest, Hazell Bros required a reliable contractor with the resources and capacity to install meters in the ground… fast, at the same time being completely responsible for undertaking all tasks with minimal environmental footprint.

Determination to succeed, pride in our work and access to resource are hallmarks of our team on the ground and possibly the main point of difference between using Tranex Barriers and “just another guard rail contractor”. Hazell Bros knew they could not just give this job to anyone. With pricing well under expectation and quality second-to-none, this was a win-win in the Tarkine.
