TheNorthSeaisemergingasoneoftheworld’slargestoilfields,butitguardsitstreasureswell.Divingconditionsareamongtheworstencounteredinprofessionaldiving.IHCHytechisbecomingincreasinglyrenownedforitsextensiverangeofhigh-qualityequipmenttothoseinvolvedinthisindustry.
IHCHytechisformedbyagroupofpeople,whohaveawealthofexperienceineveryareaofcommercialdivingandarepresentinganewperspectiveonmanyaspectsinthisfield.

DART and ATEL: small dimensions, big achievements
DART stands for Diver Attendant Recompression Transportable and it is a new type of transportable decompression chamber, which is large enough to accommodate two people (one patient and one attendant). Due to its special shape and size, the DART is spacious enough to allow for extended transportation or treatment times if necessary.
Compactandlightweight,theDARTisidealfortransferringdiversunderpressuretoahyperbaricmedicalfacility.TheDARTisfittedwitharotatingSTANAGmaleflange,whichallowsittobeconnectedtoalargenumberofhyperbaricfacilities.ItisalsopossibletouseadaptionflangestoconnecttheDARTtohyperbaricfacilitiesusingothercon-nectionflanges.TheDARTtransportabledecompressionchambercanbeinstalledinanISOnormcontainer.

ATELstandsforAttachable Transportable Entrance Lock.Thisis, infact,anadditionalchambercompartment,whichcanbeused incombinationwiththeDART.TheATELisprovidedwithaspecial STANAGfemaleflange,whichmakesitpossibletolinktheATEL withtheDART,givingatwo-compartmentchamber.

Decompression chambers in all kind of materials and configurations
The decompression chambers built by IHC Hytech are generally considered to be market leading and are suitable for any application. It has a wealth of experience in developing equipment, which is not designed on the drawing board, but in the field.
IHCHytechdecompressionchambersaretheresultofdiversworkingtogether,mixingseasonedexperiencewithfreshperspectives.Thecompanybelievesthatdecompressionchambersshouldbeinstantlysimpletooperate,toavoidpossibleerrorsorlosingprecioustime.
Thedecompressionchambersaremanufacturedinallkindsofmateri-alsandconfigurations:aluminium,steel,two-orten-persontranspor-table.Ithasstandardtanks,butisbynomeanslimitedtoonemodel.Alldecompressionchambersarecustom-made,accordingtocustomerspecifications,tofittheirapplicationsprecisely.SafetyandreliabilityareimportantfeaturesofeachchamberbuiltbyIHCHytech.Itisabletobuilddecompressionchambersaccordingtoanystandard:Lloyd’sRegisterofShipping,BritishStandard,IMCA,DNV,etc.
Astandarddecompressionchambercomeswithtwocompartments,themainchamberandanairlock.Thechamberisskid-mountedandhaslargeliftinglugsforincreasedmobility.Thetankwillgowhereverthedivingactionis.
Boththeinsideandoutsideofthechambersarecoveredwithaspe-cialcoating.Workingpressureisusually5.5bar(80psi),butchambersupto35bar(515psi)canalsobeprovided.Forintegrationinexistingsystems,thechamberscanbesuppliedwithconnectionflangestofitanybellorauxiliarychamber.Theskidcanbeusedtointegratetheoxygenandaircylindersrequiredtoprovideamaximumoperationalindependence.Thepressurehullhasanumberofsparepenetratorsthatallowadditionalsystemstobeinstalled.Alargesizemedicallockisastandardfeature.Viewportswithadiameterof150mmallowobservationofbothcompartments.

The IHC Hytech WBHS 3-100 is an open wet bell handling system that allows three divers to work at a depth of up to 100 m.
Thesystemconsistsofanopenwetbellwithaninternaldiameterof1,500mm(approximately5ft),anA-framewithsheaves,atopframewithhydraulicwinchestohoistthebellanditsclumpweight,andaDiveControlContainer(DCC).

IHC Hytech aims to manufacture high-quality hyperbaric oxygen chambers (HBO) that provide maximum comfort to patients and operators. They are manufactured to customer specifications – diameters vary from 1,700 to 3,000 mm and the length can be adapted to suit the number of patients and/or the size of the building.
IHCHytechHBOchambersfulfilltherequirementsofannexIVoftheCouncilDirective93/42/EEC,concerningmedicaldevices.Theycanei-therbeequippedwithrectangularentrancedoorsorwithafull-sizedcirculardoorequaltothediameterofthemainchamber.
Thefull-sizeddoorallowsforeasyaccessforintensivecarepatientsonfull-sizedhospitalbeds.Itisprovidedwithasafetyinterlocksystemthatpreventstheopeningofthedoorwhilethechamberispres-surised.Theluxuryseatsforpatientsareeasilyremovedfromthechamberinordertoallowfortheuseoffull-sizedhospitalbeds.Theinteriorandexteriorcoloursofthechambercanbechosenbythecustomer.Hospitalbeds,wheelchairsandmedicalstretcherscanberaisedandloweredsafelyandeasily.

TheHBOchamberisprovidedinsidethemaincham-berwithapatientvacuumsuctionsystemandstoragecontainer.Connectionpointsarealsoavailableforthesupplyofoxygenand/orairtomedicalequip-mentsuchaspatientventilators.Thechamberisalso

As well as serving the diving industry, IHC Hytech also designs and manufactures breathing protection and life-support equipment used in hazardous environments, such as inert atmospheres.
IHCHytechhasyearsofexperienceinbuildinglife-supportunits.Mostofthosesystemsarebuiltintocontainers,trucks,vansortrailers.Thecontainerhastwocompartments:acontrolroomwheretheoperatorsitsbehindthecontrolpanel,andaroomwherethereels,airbottlesandconnectionsareplaced.
Thereelroomcanbereachedthroughnormaldoublecontainerdoors.Inthesidewallofthecontainerisadoortothecontrolroom.Theunit’sairsupplyconsistsofadoublehigh-pressurebank.Themainandback-upsuppliesareindependentsystems,allthewayfromthebot-tlestothebreathingmasks.
IHCHytechhasbuiltthistypeofsystemformanydifferentcostumersaccordingtotheirspecifications.Itusuallyhasfourtoeightmasksupplylines.Someunitshavealow-pressurecompressorforthemainairsupply,completewithanalyserstomonitortheairqualityatthecompressorairinlet.Itisalsopossibletoproduceacompletelyinde-pendentunit,withageneratorsettopowerit.

For more than two decades, IHC Hytech has been actively involved in the design and manufacture of certified decompression/hyperbaric chamberssystems, which are installed in tunnel boring machines (TBMs).NotonlydoesIHCHytechspecialiseindelivering,forexample,manlockchambers(fortransferunderpressure),whichareintegratedinthepressureshieldofTBMs,butitisalsocapableofsupplying:completeturnkeypackageswithmantransfershuttles;decompressionchambers;medicalchambers;andhyperbariclivinghabitats,includingallauxiliaryequipment.Inadditiontothis,IHCHytechprovideslifecy-clesupportforallthesystemsitsupplies.
MTS and SDCTheMTS(MainTransferShuttle)isusedforthetransportfromtheTBM(TunnelBoringMachine)totheSDC(SpecialDecompressionChamber).ASDCcanconsistsofatwocompartmentdecompressionchamberwithacontrolpanelinaseparatecontainer(Controlroom).
System integration and packagingThecontrolpanels,decompressionchambers,compressors,coolingsystemsandallothercomponentsneededtooperatethesystemarebuilt,ifrequired,intocontainerstofacilitateeasiertransportationtothetunnellingsite,effortlesson-sitehandling,betterprotectionofmaterials/equipmentandcomprehensiveorganisationoftheremotecontrolforallhyperbaricinterventionactivities.Theinterconnectionswillbedeliveredand,ifrequested,installedbyIHCHytechexperts.TheintegrationofallcomponentscanalsobefacilitatedbyIHCHytech’sengineersatalltimes. Certification and regulationsWithregardtovariousnationalregulationsandcustomerspecificati-ons,allIHCHytechequipmentisbuiltincompliancewiththerequire-mentsofrenownedinternationalcertificationauthorities,suchasLR,DNVGL,ASME,TÜV.SurveyorinspectionsduringessentialstagesofthedesignandmanufacturingprocessareanormalprocedureforIHCHytechtunnellingprojects.

The Lake Mead project near Las Vegas Atunnel-boringmachine(TBM)thattakestechnologytoanewlevelofcapabilityandoperationisneededtobuildthenewwaterintaketunnelintothebaseofLakeMead–thevastreservoircreatedbytheHooverDamontheColoradoRivernearLasVegas,Nevada.
ThelogisticsoftheprojectdemandthattheTBMbeahard-rockmachinethatisabletoconvertrapidlyfromanopen-facedsystemtoaclosedpressurisedsystemcapableofwithstandingpotentialhydrostaticpressu-resupto17barmaximum.
Thetunnellingsystemisfullypreparedforhyperbaricfaceman-entry.Astandbydecompressionchamberequippedwithanoxygendecompressionsystemis
permanentlylocatedbehindtheringbuildarea.Thischambercanbeconnectedbyanaccesstubetotherearshieldbulkhead,providingaccesstothedrillchamberbehindthefrontshieldbulkhead.Thesizeofthedecompressionchamberislargeenoughtoallowforextendeddecompressiontimesandtoperformthecompletedecompressionprocess.Inaddition,thesystemispreparedfortheuseofmixedgasbreathingsystemsforhigherchamberpressures.ThebreathinggasmixturescanbeTrimixorHeliox.

Together with Aberdeen based Survitec Survival Craft (Part of the Survitec Group), IHC Hytech is involved in the design and manufacturing of self-propelled hyperbaric lifeboats (SPHL), suitable for 12, 18 and 24 persons and for depth ranges up to 400 msw.

Transfer under pressure (TUP) is an interventi on method used in nonsaturation diving shallower than 50 msw, where the divers are transferred fromtheir working depth to a surface decompression chamber in a closed bellmaintaining pressure greater of equal to the first decompression stop.
Byremovingin-waterdecompressionstops,surfaceintervalsandrecompression,TUPisgenerallyconsideredasahealthier,saferandmoreefficientalternativetotraditionalsurfaceorientedair/nitroxdivingtechniques(in-waterde-compression-stops). TheIHCHytechTUPdivesystemisintendedtobeusedasanair/mixedgas/helioxdivingsystemfortwodivers,ofwhichoneisthebellman,usingacloseddivingbell.TheTUPbellisusedtodeploybothdiverstotheworkingdepthwhilstthediversareinsidetheclosedbell.
