Mr. Nkwali joined the engineering sector in 2003 at Gibb Pty Ltd, as a trainee technician whilst completing his
studies at Cape Peninsula University of Technology in civil and urban engineering. He later graduated in 2005 with
a national diploma in Civil Engineering where he was recognised as qualified technician and acquired various skills
in the projects he play a part different position during his 7 year period at Gibb Pty Ltd and completed his BTech
degree in 2010.
He specialises in design, supervision and refurbishment of civil engineering township services which includes
roads, pavements, storm water drainage, water reticulation, sewerage, structural work and reclamation.
Management of water services programmes which includes:
Regional Bulk Infrastructure Grant (RBIG), Accelerated Community Infrastructure Programme (ACIP), Water
Conservation and Demand Management (WC/WDM) and Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG).
OPERATIONS MANAGER: AKHONA NEKA, MBA, ADM, HDE.
As the Operations Manager of IQhawe Consulting Engineers, Akhona is involved in the day-to-day
management of company. She has project management, customer service, and academic and business
administration skills. Currently completing final stages of her MBA (dissertation stage). Has also worked as an
academic at tertiary level. Akhona is highly efficient, dependable and reliable with integrity and provides
administrative support which enables the team to meet goals and deadlines.

IQhawe Consulting Engineers is a B-BBEE Exempted Micro Enterprise at 135% B-BBEE Recognition
Level 1 .
In addition to the Level 1 B-BBEE Status, the company is 100% black woman-owned. The company strongly

4. OUR RESOURCES
4.1 HUMAN RESOURCES
In order to achieve our mission, vision and values, as enshrined in our mission statement, we believe we have to
recruit the best talent in the civil and structural fields. To this end, we pride ourselves for the fact that our
personnel have acquired quality consulting civil and structural engineering experience and expertise from
recognized national practices over an accumulative period in excess of 25 years. This experience has been
acquired through direct and active involvement and participation on various projects from inception through to
commissioning.
In addition to the above, our personnel have continued to develop their professional and technical skills through
postgraduate studies and various short courses, most of which are CPD accredited.
4.2 KEY PERSONNEL
OWNER DIRECTOR: Dr Putuma Mbewana, MBCHB, BSc(Bot), CIMA
Putuma Mbewana the surviving spouse of the late Mr Lulamile Mbewana, is now the owner and Director of Iqhawe Consulting Engineers. She provides leadership for managers to enable them to understand the business objectives and values. She is responsible for directing the affairs of a company.
Putuma completed her BSc (Botany), from the University of the
Western Cape in 1996 and went to complete MBCHB in Cuba in 2004.
She has been registered as a Certified Independent Medical Examiner
since 2004. She worked as a medical officer at Department of Health
from 2005-2014. In 2014 she started working as a Medical practitioner
at her private practice.
CONSULTANT: STEVE LANDOLTS BSc (Hons.) (Civil. Eng), ECSA
Steve Landolts has a wide range of experience. His key expertise
ranges from municipal infrastructure mainly in water supply and
related projects, has 10 years’ experience in contracting and more
than 28 years in consulting.
Steve Landolts is the consultant at IQhawe consulting engineers, with
over 30 years’ experience in the industry. As the mentor his
responsibilities includes providing guidance, advising the Engineers
and Technicians in areas where skills need to be improved. In
particular developing the technical, managerial, administrative and
commercial knowledge.
Steve is registered with the Department of Water and Sanitation
(RSA) as an APP for Dam Safety. Registered as a Mentor with ECSA.

Registered as a Construction Mentor with UOFS (RSA).
Sifiso obtained his NDip. (Eng)Civil collecting thirteen distinctions along the
way. He studied at the Walter Sisulu University.
Sifiso is now pursuing his BTECH in Water Engineering at Walter Sisulu University of Technology. His experience is in reinforced concrete structures
as well as bulk earthworks.
CAD OPERATOR: Unathi Neka
Unathi is studying towards NDip (Eng) Civil, is currently employed by IQhawe Consulting Engineers as a CAD Operator. He is proficient in AutoCAD, Civil Designer, ArcGIS and Quantum GIS. Unathi’s responsibilities include design and draughting.

IQhawe Consulting Engineers recognizes that when we undertake our work, we have a professional obligation
to ensure that the work is undertaken and completed in accordance with high professional standards. We also
understand that with any professional services there is always an inherent professional risk. Thus, we have
assumed a professional indemnity insurance cover.
So as to provide assurance of our professional obligation to our clients, our services and the company at large,
we have, through Marsh, assumed a Professional Indemnity Insurance cover with Leppard Underwriting for a sum
of R10.million. Policy Number is P51005106.

6. TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT & COMMUNITY OUTREACH
IQhawe Consulting Engineers recognizes that there is a serious shortage of skills in the built-environment industry
in the country, with civil engineering not exempt. Of particular concern is the fact that a significant shortage exists
amongst the previously disadvantaged. In recognition of this fact, IQhawe Consulting Engineers has developed,
as a starting point, a training programme to develop its own human resources skills base. This will not only
improve the skills base of our personnel, but will ensure an improved quality standard of our service to our Clients.
The training will be achieved through:
