OVERVIEW • The new 64,000 square metre Grande Prairie Regional Hospital will provide a wide range of health care services, including surgery, cancer care and emergency services. • It will have single inpatient rooms, including medical, surgical and rehabilitation, intensive care, cardiac care, obstetrics, neonatal intensive care and pediatric beds. • The hospital will include an education facility in partnership with Grande Prairie Regional College for the training of nurses and other health care professionals. • A state-of-the-art cancer centre will include two radiation vaults, bringing radiation therapy services to the community and the surrounding region. • Outpatient programs will include specialized diagnostic procedures/clinics and medical day care, and a cardiac/respiratory program that will provide localized testing and treatment to patients with cardiac and respiratory disease processes. CONSTRUCTION UPDATE • The exterior shell is 95 percent complete. • Building envelope and base building mechanical and electrical work is 95 percent complete. • Construction on interior fit out is underway, including work on framing, drywall, mechanical and electrical. AHEAD • Late 2016 and ongoing – Continue construction of exterior and interior of the hospital building. Design and procurement plans for the parkade are being reviewed and updated. • 2017 - The parkade project is expected to be tendered in early 2017 with construction to begin in the spring of 2017.
