Residences built over a century ago.

Irvington and the surrounding area were called the Hunting Ridge by European immigrants.

Irvington actually began with a road built sometime before 1765 which led from Baltimore to Frederick Town.

Originally a Native American trail as they brought their packhorse, laden, with pelts to the market of Baltimore.

• Irvington is a family oriented community.

• The neighborhood has many family activities throughout the year such as a Thanksgiving dinner, giving out Christmas baskets, back-to-school fair, and community flea market.

• The community also sponsors a C.O.P (Citizens on Patrol)walk in which the neighborhood

volunteers to walk the neighborhood once a month.

• Irvington also has a three block business district.

Unfortunately, there is not a fresh food market in the Irvington community. Residents have a Giant Food Store that is within 0.6 miles of the community

Mission Statement

Motivated by love for God, My Brother's Keeper is

dedicated to transforming the Irvington Community and

empowering its residents by providing quality social

services that give them the tools to build on their own

Focus is on finance and adopting best practices in fiscal management to make more money

EVALUATION• The questions were asked to test the recall

of information presented.

• The community was able to give feedback about the signs and symptoms of Diabetes.

• The community requested more samples of healthy food options such as fruit, low calorie muffins, and splenda.

• After the presentation about stroke, the clients requested additional blood pressure screenings and information about where screenings are available.
