Social DefinitionSocial DefinitionThe homeless are people from

all walks of life, who have undergone various hardships.

They are often dismissed as second class citizens and experience discrimination in all aspects of their life.

Homeless persons are REAL people who have endured extraordinary events & by their existence it provides hope to the wider community and allows society to demonstrate compassion.

People experiencing homelessness belong to a vastly diverse group. Which in turn means that they have different needs and different abilities and often come from vastly different

Financial Support: Centrelink payments, some homeless do not access these services, WHY?

Security and Safety: incredibly unpredictable, insecure & unsafe way to live.

Housing: Shelter is a basic human need.

Access to Services: may not have the resources to access the services they need.

Health: Experience poor levels of health

National Affordable Housing Agreement National Affordable Housing Agreement Aims to ensure that all Australians have access to affordable safe and sustainable housing that contributes to social and economicparticipation.

The NAHA is an agreement by the Council of Australian Governments that commenced on 1 January 2009, initiating a whole-of-government approach in tackling the problem of housing affordability.

The NAHA provides $6.2 billion worth of housing assistance to low and middle income Australians in the first five years.
