Preface
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Third International Multi-topicConference, IMTIC 2013. The conference theme was “Communication Technologies,Information Security and Sustainable Development.” IMTIC 2013 provided anopportunity for national and international researchers and practitioners to present state-of-the-art results and future challenges in the fields of information communicationtechnologies along with security-related issues and their contributions toward sus-tainable development.
IMTIC 2013 received more than 140 submissions. All submitted papers wentthrough a rigorous review process with each paper receiving at least three reviews. Thereview process included several stages including TPC member reviews, an onlinediscussion among the reviewers, TPC lead summary recommendations, and additionalreviews (as needed). Based on the TPC recommendations, we accepted a total of 27papers for publication and presentation at IMTIC 2013. This represents an acceptancerate of 21.42 %.
With so many papers to choose from, providing a conference program with a highlevel of technical excellence became a task that was challenging and time-consuming,but ultimately a very rewarding one with the efforts of the Technical Program Com-mittee (TPC). The TPC focused on two aspects while selecting the technical papers:first, to provide a forum for researchers from all over the world and, specifically,Pakistan to present and discuss their research results in the relevant areas covered bythe conference; second, to maintain the highest technical standard for accepted papers. The conference program was structured with two parallel-track sessions for the pre-sentation of papers, a PhD symposium and a poster session. The topics presented had areasonable balance between theory and practice in multidisciplinary topics includingwireless sensor networks, could computing, wireless communication, antenna design, signal processing, software engineering, image processing, bioinformatics and tele-medicine, neural networks, automation and control, and green renewable energy. Theprogram also included eight keynote speeches by renowned experts in the field and fiveparallel thematic tutorials.
This event would not have been possible without the enthusiasm and hard work ofnumerous colleagues. We express our gratitude to the General Chairs, for their assis-tance throughout the process, and the Steering Committee members for their supportiveguidance. We also thank all the other members of the organizing committees forthe fruitful cooperation. A special vote of thanks goes to the TPC members, and all the
referees, for their invaluable help in reviewing the papers. We acknowledge all theauthors for their overwhelming support in submitting their papers for consideration toIMTIC 2013. Last but not least, we thank all the participants for attending the con-ference. We sincerely hope that you enjoyed IMTIC 2013.
