Communication derives from the Latin word ''communis'' that means ''in common''.
The speech act is a game of reciprocal influence
There are two ways to communicate:
One is monodirectional: without a feedback
This model is WRONG.
Bidirectional:with a feedback
This model is CORRECT.
Communication is always oriented towards a target:
To reach the receiver through a canal within a context...
The speech agents are 2:
1. The SENDER,
He/she who starts the conversation
What they say is
the MESSAGE
2. The RECEIVER,
The person who receives the message
We usually speak to:
Persuade, an example of this are the advertisements, which also aim to:
-Inform,
- Entertain,
Face expressions, voice, body language, emotions:
Words (verbal communication)
7%
• Voice (Paraverbal communication)
38%
An evident example is our face; it has got 187 muscles, we also say that:“The face is the mirrow of the soul”. The capacity to communicate with other individuals of the same species is a characteristic which belongs not only to humans but also to animals.
To reach an audience effectively there are 3 rules:
1) be able to convince the listener
2) control your body, voice, face expression
3)Before speaking, concentrate on your goals, on the receiver's points of view as well as on the possible objectives
The standard iter of communicationSenders: want to communicate 100%
Receivers receive 50% andunderstand 20%
But…they remember only 10%!
The evolution of communication
Internet
Social networks
Digital communication
The history of computer is, of course, relatively
recent. The initial success was due to an
enterprising businnessman in the USA, called
Thomas J. Watson.
In 1943 Watson gave Harvard University
one million dollars to produce the first electro-
mechanical computer; but the real computer
revolution took place in the 1980s and 1990s
after the invention of the microchip.
After the IBM (International Business Machines) had invented personal computers, new portable ones entered the market.

The age of the global village has truly arrived.
During the 1970s a revolution in
information technology led to a
system that could send information from a
part of the globe to another thanks to
a simple connection.
Initially the connection was used for military purposes but then the Internet started to be used by everyone.
Now you can write and send letters by e-mail,
you can do your shopping in virtual shops.
The evolution of the Internet
Recently Mark Zuckemberg, a university student with his friends has planned a big social network. The most popular social network is Facebook.
In this site you can make a lot of friends and organize events.
The new mode of communicationToday everybody has got his/her mobile
phone. We, new multimedia generation experts, have invented a new code through which exchange messages. Texting messages is a cool way to communcate while writing. We use alphabet and numbers to represent the sound of the words. It is good for facts and information, but it is not so good to communicate complex ideas.
