ITU Sector Membership

An interested entity or organization may join ITU as a Sector Member of each of the 3 Sectors:

Development (ITU-D) Radiocommunication (ITU-R) Standardization (ITU-T)

An ITU-D Sector Member fully participates in the work of ITU-D Study Groups, or Working Groups, in the Sector’s Regional and World Telecommunication Conferences, Advisory Group and other relevant workshops, seminars and meetings.

ITU-D Sector Member Fees

The annual ITU-D Sector Member fee varies depending on the country in which the Sector Member is located.

The minimum annual fee is 7,950 Swiss Francs for Sector Members in developed countries and 3'975 Swiss francs for Sector Members in developing countries.

ITU-D Sector Members may also make a larger contribution, which is most common among larger industry members.

ITU Associates

An interested entity or organization may join an ITU Sector as an Associate and be entitled to take part in the work of a selected single Study Group.

Associates may have access to documentation required for their work and may serve as Rapporteur or Editor.

ITU-D Study Group 1 :Enabling environment, cybersecurity, ICT applications and Internet-

related issues

ITU-D Study Group 2:Information and communication infrastructure and technology

development, emergency telecommunications and climate-change adaptation

The annual contribution for an ITU-D Associate is:

CHF 3,975.00 for those based in developed countriesand

CHF 1,987.50 for those based in developing countries

Academia

Since the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference held in 2010, academia, universities and associated research establishments concerned with the development of telecommunications/ICTs can join the three Sectors of the ITU.

The financial annual contribution per Sector is :

CHF 3,975.00 for academia based in developed countries. andCHF 1,987.50 for academia based in developing countries.

ITU Membership Approval procedure

Fill in the ITU Membership Application form. Submit it to the Secretary General of the ITU through the

national telecommunication administration of the Member State where your entity is based.

Regional or other international organizations send the application form directly to ITU.
