What’s new for delegates next year?A programme featuring the who’s who of commissioning Commissioning 2012 aims to deliver a blend of practical advice, real solutions, facilitated learning and networking that clinicians and managers can take back to their day to day roles. Six streams cover a range of key interests and responsibilities. Uniting all streams is the recurring theme of delivering better patient care. In response to delegate feedback, we have added two new streams for 2012, focussing on technology and the emerging role of Health and Wellbeing Boards.

The Streams

Managing long term conditions

There are 15.4 million people in England with at least one long-term condition, and it is thought many more are not yet diagnosed. Current policy on long-term conditions seeks to reduce this burden through prevention and developing services that enable people to remain living independently in their own homes. It also seeks to empower patients, give them information about their condition and offer them choice about where and how they are treated.

With demand increasing and patient expectations rising, the challenge is to deliver quality services This stream will provide the latest thinking and practical case studies offering commissioners real solutions for delivering services in their locality.

Integrated care

The concept of integrated care brings together health and social care services in partnership to ensure individuals get the right treatment and care that they need.

This stream aims to support frontline organisations delivering the integrated community services that help people to live independent lives. At Commissioning, we will deliver expert advice on how groups have used multidiscipline teams, including work with nurses, social care and mental health services, to create joint working initiatives.

Productivity through technology.New for 2012!

Primary care has more challenges now than ever, with expectation that CCGs will deliver high quality services and cost savings. When we asked GPs what were their top priorities for 2012, over a quarter believed innovative use of technology would be one of the most effective solutions to improving productivity and patient care.

Inspired by this swell of interest, this stream looks at different uses and solutions that technology can offer Primary and Social care services. The stream offer case studies and expert advice, with a particular focus on mobile and tele-health solutions.

Delivering Clinical Commissioning Groups of the future

So much of primary care commissioning focuses on patient outcomes, service redesigns and quality, but without the financial and management skills to support leaders, clinicians and commissioners it would not happen.

Delivering CCGs of the future aims to identify the challenges of the next 12 months for leaders and managers from commissioning groups and practices and offer practical advice and expert opinion on how to overcome these challenges.

Health and Wellbeing Boards: Productive Relationships.New for 2012!

Many local authorities have instigated a Health and Wellbeing Board, with the aim of creating unity between the NHS and local services. The purpose of the boards is to bring together those who buy services across the NHS, public health,

social care and children’s services, elected representatives and representatives from HealthWatch to plan the right services for their area, in a holistic way.

This stream will focus on successful early joint working between local authorities / Health and Wellbeing Boards and healthcare organisations. The stream will cover expert advice and sessions aiming to give each group the opportunity to understand before being understood. In addition there will be an in-depth look at the role of public health and successful initiatives that have delivered tangible community benefits.

Facilitating healthcare solutions

Commissioning 2011 post-show research told us delegates would like more opportunity to work with other local groups; learning from each other and discussing hot topics. This stream will deliver just that.

Each day there will be a series of facilitated workshop session where delegates will be put through their paces and given the opportunity to work together in small groups. In addition there will be several short hot-topic discussions generated by show partners, sponsors and the delegates themselves.

Listen, learn, debate

New for 2012, the facilitated learning area will allow you to join a facilitated workshop where you can work with colleagues and other groups on real life scenarios. Lead by a professional facilitator, each session will have a set task to complete as a group, with the objective of leaving with practical solutions that can be implemented in your locality. Through our new dynamic registration system delegates can not only chose the session, but also the table they would like to join.

Commissioning’s hottest debates

Commissioning 2012 will be covering the hottest topics of the day, though we may not know what they all are yet! Our round table programme will allow partners and experts to table hot topics and watch the debate unfold. These lively, less structured discussions are an ideal way to gain insight into current practice and opinion.

The social network

An innovative delegate booking platform opens up new opportunities for networking, both in the run up to the show and beyond. Delegates will be able to create a bespoke conference programme for themselves, combining their selections from the formal sessions with facilitated networking and face to face peer meetings. You will also be able to book time directly with expert suppliers for the in-depth discussions of the issues you face, giving a valuable opportunity for uninterrupted quality time with prospective partners.

Get face to face with your commissioning heroes

New for 2012, the facilitated networking area will allow delegates to build their own programme of meetings around the main conference programme. Our innovative booking platform allows delegates to identify experts and peers with practical experience in key areas. You can even create your own sessions around the topics that matter most to you and invite like-minded colleagues to join you.

An integrated social media platform will allow delegates to share their experiences with others and discuss what they have learned. Combined with downloadable content the value of Commissioning will extend well beyond the confines of a traditional two-day show.

More flexible programme

We listened to what delegates told us after the 2011 show: they rated the content highly, but sometimes found it difficult to fit in everything they wanted to do. Whilst there is still a host of great content, we have opened out the schedule to allow more time to get between theatres, for networking and for talking to expert partners in the exhibition zone.

Getting to Commissioning 2012 is easy Following the success of 2011, Commissioning has moved to the larger National Hall at Olympia. In addition to ample on-site parking, Olympia is well served by London Overground and National Rail, with Kensington Olympia right on the doorstep with direct links to Watford, Milton Keynes, Clapham Junction, Willesden Junction and mainline London stations. Barons Court on the Piccadilly line and Earls Court on the District line are only a few minutes’ walk away.

2012 will bring senior figures from public health, social care and nursing management.
