Unique loose lay concept

Solves moisture problems
High dimensional stability and compatibility with both heterogeneous compactand homogeneous floorings
192 For technical specifications, please see page 187.
Tarkolay for advanced loose laying…Tarkolay underlay complements the other Tarkettloose laying products. Tarkolay has been developedfor advanced problem solving loose laying when thereis moisture in the subfloor.
Tarkolay is loose laid on the subfloor. A Tarkettfloorcovering is then bonded onto it. The thin underlayhas high dimensional stability, which means that bothhomogeneous and heterogeneous resilient flooringcan be used. The result is a stable construction with natural ventilation between the resilient flooringand the subfloor.
Solves moisture problem
Flooring bonded to substrates with a high moisturecontent can easily cause so-called sick buildingsyndrome. Moisture in concrete substrates has a highpH and therefore attacks the adhesive, which in turn
affects the flooring material. One result of this ishigh levels of unhealthy, allergenic and foul-smellingemissions.
Tarkolay solves these problems. Tarkolay is moistureresistant, and its construction allows ventilationbetween the flooring material and the subfloor.Tarkolay withstands moisture levels as high as 96% RH.
Simpler refurbishment
When it is time for refurbishment, Tarkolay is ready forrecycling. No residues of adhesive or subfloor remain onthe back. The whole construction is easily lifted out andsent for recycling. The new finish can then be installedimmediatly.
No subfloor work is needed.
More design possibilities
Tarkolay makes it possible to loose lay nearly all the Tarkett range of resilient floorings. A large choice of colours and patterns even makes it possible to create some floor designs.

Linoleum - The nature of tomorrow
Tarkett has been making linoleum flooring for over a hundred years. The processremains very much the same as it ever was, but linoleum today is fresh, dynamic andexciting. It comes with a whole new range of technical qualities that make it anideal choice for a wide range of uses wherever there’s a need for a solution thatcombines natural quality with resistance to heavy traffic, from education tohealthcare. With both compact and acoustic versions, modern linoleum can satisfythe most demanding requirements for appearance, function, cost andsustainability.
Linoleum - a surface revolution
With Xf surface protection and Xf welding rods, Tarkett has developed a linoleumflooring with outstanding performance and superior resistance to abrasion andchemicals as well as easy cleaning and maintenance. As a result of less frequent, less intense cleaning and maintenance, Linoleum Xf has very favourable life cyclecosts compared with untreated linoleum flooring. The higher capital outlay isrecovered within one year.
The sound of silence
Tarkett’s Linoleum Silencio Xf and Linoleum Acoustic Xf are the perfect choice wherever you need extra soundinsulation. With pre-bonded underlays (polyurethane foam for Silencio and cork for Acoustic), they also offer all thebenefits of Xf surface protection.
Colours for every ambience
Tarkett Linoleum has style to match function with 68 dynamic and vibrant colours. With patterns that range fromplain solid dark colours, through sensuous softness, brilliant marbling, and dazzling multi-colour styles, the palettenow offers a comprehensive choice to create any ambience you need.
Nature’s flooring
Made from materials such as linseed oil, pine resin, jute, wood and cork flour, linoleum is the ultimate natural and renewable product. Add the latest innovations in surface treatments to minimise the use of natural resources – water, energy and detergent – for cleaning and maintenance, and linoleumreally is the perfect environmentally friendly flooring. ISO 9001 and 14001 certifications recognise the quality of ourmanagement systems and the efforts we make to ensure that our production processes respect people and theenvironment

When it comes to the authenticity of a natural product, nothing can rival the beauty of wood. For any commercial application where function must be matched by style, such asoffices, stores or hotels, wood is the statement choice.
Natural quality and technical innovation
With over 120 years of experience, Tarkett has developed in-depth expertisein the properties and qualities of wood, ensuring that our products offer the bestpossible construction techniques and surface treatments. Our wood collectionscombine extremely stable construction with strong locking systems and one ofthe hardest lacquer finishes on the market. The result is a collection that matcheshigh-quality looks with unbeatable performance.
Making the most of nature’s own designs
Tarkett’s innovative and environmentally friendly techniques add a new dimension to wood’s wonderful naturalqualities and colours. Spanning from almost white and grey to the deeper shades of heat-treated European woodspecies that mimic exotic varieties, our wood collection offers everything from classic to contemporary.
Naturally sustainable
Our wood collections are environmentally friendly through and through, from growing and harvesting, through manufacturing to eventual recycling.
To ensure constant and continuing supplies, we must look after our forests and harvest them with care. This is particularly important for tropical hardwoods, which are often over-exploited or illegally harvested. That’s why all the wood we use – including hardwoods – comes only from sources with guaranteed replantingand harvesting with minimal waste.
Our production processes are designed to minimise the use of resources and, wherever possible, to recycle and reusewater, energy and waste material. We have Forest Stewardship Council Certification (FSC).

BEFORE INSTALLATIONHANDLING
- For best results, follow the installation instructions below, and usethe tools and accessories recommended by the manufacturer.- Care should be taken when handling all types of floorcoverings toensure that safety procedures are followed and damage does notoccur to the material.- Check the material for visible defects and/or damage before andduring installation and report to Tarkett representative.- Use the same batch number for each continuous surface andsequential order n° of palette and rolls/boxes.
STORAGE
Rolls: store the rolls upright, in a secured position, dry place, protected from heat and cold, moist, rust, rot, free from anycontamination and not piled up or crushed under heavy weight. Tiles/Planks: store the boxes in small, neat piles.
SUBFLOOR
The subfloor must be flat, clean, without any marks (no felt pen, marker of any type, ballpoint pens, paint, etc that could causediscoloration due to migration), sound, dry, solid, hard, smooth,(the absorbency must be checked) and not exposed to humidity.
The preparation/dryness of the subfloor and installation proceduresshould all be as per the current relevant Standard within thecountry of use. The dryness of a solid subfloor should be below themaximum moisture level permitted when tested in accordance withthe said Standard.Ex : in UK, the humidity of concrete surfaces must be below 75% andwith CCM method must be less than 2%.Or ex : in North America, ASTM F-170 recommends a water-to-cementratio of 0.40 to 0.45/
Prior to selecting a smoothing compound, it will be necessary toinvestigate what type of traffic the floorcovering will be subjectedto once installed. Latex smoothing compounds are not suitablefor areas that will receive heavy traffic, especially heavy, narrowwheeled traffic (see Wheels EN Norms 12529). Check levellingcompound compatibility : please follow instructions of levellingcompound manufacturer.
EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY (adhesives, levelling compounds and others):
Although Tarkett may list a selection of manufacturer adhesive, levelling compound and surface damp proof membranemanufacturers and types, we do not however guarantee theproducts listed. The list of products and manufacturers are notguaranteed complete or current.
Tarkett would not accept any liability for any of these productsfailing to perform in conjunction with any of their products. It is theresponsibility of the adhesive, levelling compound and surfacedamp proof membrane manufacturer and flooring contractor toensure the products being used are appropriate for use and appliedin accordance with the manufacturers recommendations.
For specific subfloor types and preparation, please contact Tarketttechnical services.

CONDITIONS REQUIRED FORINSTALLATIONIt is important that the rolls/tiles/planks are stored at least 24hours before installation at a minimum room temperature of 15°C(18°C for linoleum).
The pieces of flooring shall be cut to the required lengths, leaving afew centimeters more and stored in the room where they are to beinstalled.Tiles and planks should be stored flat in their packages, in smallneat piles (not more than 5 boxes high). This temperature should be maintained throughout the installation. The minimum temperature of the subfloor should be 15°C.
The recommended relative humidity inside the room should be 50-60%.
PREPARATION OF INSTALLATION
- for sheets: lay the rolls following the incoming light or the maintraffic lanes (ex : corridors or long rooms); - for tiles : draw the axes to find the best setting out tiles to utilize a maximum size tile at the perimeter walls and main access.
UNDERFLOOR HEATING
It is imperative that underfloor heating systems have beenpreviously commissioned and found to be functioning correctlyprior to the installation of the floorcovering. Ensure that theunderfloor heating system is switched off 48 hours prior to thefloorcovering installation commencing and remains off for at least48 hours after the installation is complete.
During the period of decommissioning of the underfloor heatingsystem, an alternative heating source should be provided, ifrequired, to ensure that the area of installation is kept at a constanttemperature of 18°C - 27°C. Gradually increase the temperatureover a number of days by only a few degrees per day until thedesired room temperature is reached.
The temperature should never exceed the floorcovering industryagreed maximum of 27°C on the underside of the floorcovering (the adhesive line).
Remark: in case of underfloor heating, we recommend that the vinyltiles are hot welded.
AFTER INSTALLATIONPROTECTION OF INSTALLATION
Never subject a newly installed floorcovering to heavy wheeledtraffic at an early stage, as this will disperse adhesive from beneaththe floorcovering.
If building work is carried out after installation, the floor should be always covered for protection. Protect the installation withhardboard or plywood. Masking tape must not be stuck directly to the floor.
INITIAL SITE CLEANING
An initial site clean is always recommended before commissioningthe new floorcovering.
Residual adhesive should be removed with methanol spirit and aclean cloth.
Lightly soiled floors: vacuum, sweep or damp mop the area toremove loose dirt and building dust. A combined machine will bevery effective for large areas (combined scrubber/dryer withcylindrical brushes for safety floorings).
For detailed installation advisory and individualinstructions for therespective product, please refer to ourwebsitewww.tarkett.com or contact Tarketttechnical services.

THE BEST PROVEN CLEANING CHARACTERISTICS
Flooring should be seen as an investment for the long term. Somestill choose flooring based upon initial price alone, and don’tconsider the costs involved in owning and maintaining the flooring.
In fact, maintenance represent on average 92% of the cost duringthe flooring’s lifetime. Only 8% is related to purchase andinstallation. This really points out the importance of easy and low-cost cleaning and maintenance – and that a higher initialinvestment will really pay off in the long run.
All floorcoverings require maintenance to ensure that they retaintheir appearance and durability. A tailored maintenance programmewill help to expand the life of the floor and protect your investment.
FLOORINGS WITH TOP LEVEL SURFACETREATMENTS
Tarkett floorings have the best-proven cleaning and maintenanceproperties, thanks to high technology surface treatments andunique raw material compositions. For example, our outstanding iQfloorings offer Unique Surface Restoration with a simple dry-buffand will never need wax or polish; or our Linoleum xf, with X-tremeFinish treatment, offers excellent surface resistance andmaintenance properties that no one thought would be possible forlinoleum flooring.
Outstanding cleaning and maintenance properties also result inreduced strain on staff, and use of fewer resources, like minimiseduse of water, detergents and energy. All in line with our constantmission for causing minimal impact on the environment.
ENTRANCE DIRT MATS
About 80% of all the dirt on the floor that has to be cleaned off isbrought in from outside. And 90% of that can be avoided byeffective and correctly dimensioned entrance matting.
The less dirt that comes in through the entrance, the lower themaintenance requirements. An efficient dirt barrier system shouldbe based on the three-stage principle. There should be a scrapergrid nearest the outside, then a “grass” mat and finally a fibre matto trap and absorb the remaining dirt. The total length of the threemats should ideally be approximately 7-8 metres where possible forheavy traffic entrances.
FURNITURE FEET PROTECTIONS
Another important detail is that all chair and table legs should havegood quality protective items (hard plastic is preferred).
