Sons of the Legion News
It sure has been a busy winter at the Post. With our
local travelers returning and a large influx of winter
visitors, the place has been packed. Lots of old friends
to renew acquaintances with and new people to meet.
For the Sons of the Legion, we passed our yearly
membership goal in January and the new member-
ships and transfers continue to roll in. Our steak
nights are sold out every month and the numbers for
our breakfast in a bag are still rising.
Our favorite charity, Fisher House, officially opened
February 18, on the Tucson VA campus. What a great
tribute from the Tucson community to our veterans!
In January, the combined groups of Post 66 presented
the Fisher House Foundation a check for over $7,000
and contributions will be ongoing in future years.
If you haven’t been to the Post for a while you will
see quite a few physical changes: a new walk-in
freezer and other changes in the kitchen, new tables
and storage facilities in the hall, enhancements to our
septic system and a new dance floor in the lounge.
For those of you that may have forgotten, the SAL
monthly meetings take place on the 3rd Monday of
every month, at 5 pm in the post library. Meetings are
short and everyone has a say in our decisions. We’d
sure like to see you there!

American Legion Riders
Chapter 66 Hello again. We are in this our fourth
year of service as the Post #66 Legion Riders
chapter, and we continue to grow at a steady pace. We cur-
rently have 84 members. Our goals as Legion members are
found on the Post #66 website. Like all Legion members
we are here to support veterans of all wars and conflicts,
and our Post. As the Post #66 ALR chapter we participate in honor-
ing deceased veterans at their funerals (Patriot Guard Rider
missions); Missing in America Projects (MIAP) where
vet’s without families are buried by the government;
Honor Flight Support (WWII and Korea flights to DC);
and honoring our troops coming home from deployment.
Our ALR chapter also organizes the disposition of worn
(retired) American flags with a respectful ceremony; you
will find a collection box on the left as you enter the build-
ing. Our current ALR activities include monthly motorcycle
rides (social & scenic) that practice group riding tech-
niques and safety, and a monthly membership meeting at
3:30 on the second Monday of each month at the Post.
Our ALR chapter fund raising events include a great BBQ
Rib dinner at the Post on the first Friday of each month,
and Queen of Hearts Tacos on the 2nd & 4th Wednesdays
of each month. We also host several annual events such as:
Second Annual ALR Valentine’s Dinner/Wine auc-
tion in February 13.
Second Annual ALR Bike / Car & Swap meet show
in April 16.
ALR Raffle event in each fall: Last year’s event was
a raffle for a new 2015 Harley Davidson Soft Tail Deluxe.
The lucky winner was our own Post #66 member Jim Win-
ter. Congratulations to Jim, and thank you one and all for
supporting the ALR. Thank you all, for your support of the Post #66 ALR.
With your great support we have been able to make con-
siderable donations to The Fisher House of Tucson, Honor
Flight, A.V.I.V.A, and the American Legion Legacy
Scholarship Fund. Our next meeting will be March 14th at 3:30 pm at
the Post, we hope you can attend. We will be voting in
new officers at the March meeting. For your information
the ALR bulletin board is located next to the library. If you
are a Legion member, love motorcycling, and supporting
vets, we would like to have you join our group.
