In an overwhelming world so full of stimulus, and with greater demands on multitasking, we have now reached a point where it is healthy to stop; observe what we do, feel what we touch and remember what makes us feel good and stop living through our electronic devices so we may start enjoying experiences by us ourselves utilizing our senses and human capacities… In this sense, every year Comex tasks itself to work together with a group of professionals to create color trends that create positive feelings in people to make them feel better. We would like the fact of living experiences to regain new meaning in our lives and to become a new challenge to regain positive feelings by experimenting with color and sensations. That is why ColorLife Trends 17 focuses on the concept of experience. The project explores a sensory journey through textures, shapes, finishes, colors and effects while improving the old and discovering the new. I would like you to connect and experiment with this book. I am sure it will help you to transmit beauty into spaces through the use of our color trends for 2017 with vibrant and intense emotional outcomes.

En un mundo tan abrumador como el de ahora, tan lleno de estímulos y las exigencias de volvernos personas multitask llegamos a un punto en que es sano parar, observar lo que hacemos, sentir lo que tocamos, recordar aquello que nos hace sentir bien y dejar de vivir a través de nuestros aparatos electrónicos para comenzar a disfrutar las vivencias por nosotros mismos, con nuestros sentidos y con nuestras capacidades humanas…

En este sentido, Comex se da a la tarea cada año de crear, en conjunto con profesionales, tendencias de color que provoquen sensaciones positivas en las personas y las hagan sentir mejor. En Comex estamos orgullosos de nuestra contínua relación con diseñadores, artistas y creativos que proporcionan las predicciones más precisas sobre qué colores, materiales y acabados que serán utilizados en el futuro por la industria del diseño. El tema de este año: experiencias, surge a través de las observaciones generales que nuestros panelistas han efectuado sobre los principales factores socioeconómicos y medioambientales, que afectan no sólo a la industria sino también a la sociedad en general. Sus observaciones, nos llevan a predecir un ascenso generalizado del componente emocional frente al componente físico. Este año, el reino de las emociones conquistará de manera generalizada al mundo físico. Por esa razón, hemos decidido nombrar al 2017 como el año de las EXPERIENCIAS. La euforia inmediata y fugaz que ofrece la compra física pierde importancia frente a la evocación de sensaciones más fuertes y duraderas. A través de las experiencias, reconocemos el paso del tiempo y somos capaces de encontrar esa felicidad intensa que nos aporta valor añadido. Las redes sociales, a su vez, nos ayudan a reforzar y profundizar en nuestras relaciones con los demás, compartiendo culturas, viajes, creaciones y sentimientos. El Valle de Guadalupe ofrece una rica perspectiva tanto del pasado como del futuro. ¿Qué mejor lugar podríamos haber elegido para relajarnos bajo el sol del Pacífico y descifrar cuáles serán las tendencias de color del 2017?

Desde el 2011, ha colaborado con importantes marcas nacionales e internacionales, transformando las ideas de los clientes en propuestas originales a través del diseño, el arte en papel y el color.

Based in Mexico City, amoATO Studio is formed by a group of industrial designers each with an array of high quality creative skills. Since 2011, they have collaborated with major national and international brands, transforming client needs into original projects through design, art, paper and color.

MELISSA - amoATO STUDIODiseñadora industrial por el Tecnológico de Monterrey, con estudios en The Northern School of Design, obteniendo el grado de First Class Honours Degree en diseño de producto, exhibiendo su trabajo en New Designers, Londres 2009. Actualmente es directora del área ejecutiva, con gran habilidad para la administración y organización. Es una apasionada del arte y la fotografía.

An Industrial Designer educated at the Tecnologico de Monterrey University and The Northern School of Design where she graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in product design. In 2009 she exhibited her work at the New Designers show in London. She is currently Executive Director with great skills in administration and organization. She is also very passionate about art and photography.

SARAÍ – amoATO STUDIODiseñadora industrial por el Tecnológico de Monterrey, actualmente directora del área de producción con grandes habilidades técnicas que le han permitido materializar ideas en amoATO Studio. Es curiosa por descubrir nuevos materiales y procesos de transformación, así como creativa en diferentes técnicas de representación que le ayudan a visualizar los conceptos de manera gráfica.

Educated as an Industrial Designer at the Tecnologico de Monterrey University, Sarai is currently Director of Production utilizing his vast technical skills to help materialize the concepts and ideas produced at amoATO Studio. He is passionate and curious about discovering new materials and processes that will help to transform and drive creative techniques that better visualize creative concepts graphically.

RAYMUNDO – amoATO STUDIODiseñador industrial por el Tecnológico de Monterrey con estudios en el Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Director del área comercial en amoATO donde su capacidad para transmitir ideas y conceptos, ayuda a que los clientes compartan la pasión por cada proyecto. Es amante del color, la arquitectura y el arte, permitiéndole crear propuestas llenas de imaginación.

An Industrial Designer educated at the Tecnologico de Monterrey University and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Raymundo is currently Commercial Director at amoATO. His ability to communicate ideas and concepts helps customers to understand and benefit from the studios passion for each project. He loves color, architecture and art allowing him to present proposals full of imagination.

JESÚS GABRIEL IRIZAR RAMÍREZ (mob)Diseñador industrial por la Universidad Iberoamericana, fundador y director del estudio de diseño mob. Ha creado cinco colecciones de mobiliario y proyectos en el plano gastronómico para restaurantes como Lincoln y Pujol. Su trabajo ha sido publicado en renombrados medios y libros, nacionales e internacionales y ha expuesto en el Museo Franz Mayer. En 2015 ganó el primer lugar en el concurso Iconos del Diseño.

Educated in Industrial Design at the Universidad Iberoamericana, Jesús is the founder and Director of Design at Studio MOB. He has created five different furniture collections and several projects around the gastronomic map for restaurants like Lincoln and Pujol. His work has been published internationally in the media and many books and he has exhibited at the Franz Mayer Museum. In 2015 he won first place in the contest of design Icons.

ELSA GARCÍA ALVARADO (mob)Diseñadora industrial por la Universidad Iberoamericana, actualmente socia del estudio de diseño mob, dedicado al diseño y venta de mobiliario y a la proyección del interiorismo arquitectónico, donde maneja la parte comercial y de vinculación de la empresa. Busca impulsar la tienda en línea y la participación del despacho en proyectos de colaboración y exposición.

Educated in Industrial Design at the Universidad Iberoamericana, Elsa is currently an Associate of Design at Studio MOB. Studio MOB is dedicated to the design and sale of furniture as well as a creator of interior and architectural projects. She is seeking to boost online store exposure and office participation in collaborative projects.

DÉJATE QUEREREstudio de diseño de tapetes en la Ciudad de México, creado por Ana Paula Alatriste, diseñadora industrial y Rocío Cortés, antropóloga social. Déjate querer valora los objetos hechos a mano y las técnicas antiguas, logrando una naturaleza orgánica de sus diseños e identidad propia combinado con el proceso artesanal para la realización de cada tapete. Recibieron el premio QUORUM en accesorios de decoración.

Déjate querer is a rug design studio based in Mexico City. Industrial Designer Ana Paula Alatriste and Social Anthropologist Rocio Cortes are both the creators of this inspirational studio. Déjate querer appreciates handmade objects and crafting techniques to achieve natural design giving a unique identity to each rug. They received the renowned prize QUORUM in the decorative accessories category.

LUIS HUGO ÁLVAREZ PÉREZ (STLO TOP SALÓN)Artista mexicano dedicado al maquillaje, micropigmentación y diseño de cejas que ha trabajado en reconocidas marcas como Chanel, Mac y Estée Lauder. Asimismo, ha colaborado con personajes del mundo artístico y de la política, en diferentes revistas de moda nacionales e internacionales como Cosmpolitan. Actualmente trabaja en Stlo Top Salón como make-up & eye-brow artist.

Luis is a Mexican makeup artist dedicated to makeup specializing in micropigmentation and the design of eyebrows. He has worked for brands such as Chanel, Estee Lauder and Mac. He has also collaborated with characters from the art and political world nationally and internationally in different magazines such as Cosmopolitan. He is currently working at the Stlo Top Hall Salon as a makeup & eyebrow artist.

LOURDES VILLAGÓMEZArtista mexicana cuyo trabajo con acrílico, texturas, geles y barnices convertidos en arte, busca aportar al crecimiento y dar a conocer la cultura mexicana llevándola a cada rincón del mundo. Su obra presenta dos conceptos únicos: integrar y dar testimonio de la riqueza de México y realizar retrato con una profunda investigación del personaje para comprenderlo.

A Mexican artist whose work with acrylic, textures, gels and varnishes turned into art seeks to contribute to the growth and advertisement of Mexican culture, bringing it to every corner of the world. Her work has two unique concepts: Integrate and bear witness to the wealth of the Mexican legacy and its rich culture to portray these facts in depth for a better understanding.

PINEDA COVALINEmpresa fundada en 1996 por Cristina Pineda y el diseñador industrial Ricardo Covalin, para promover el arte y la cultura mexicana a través del diseño y la moda. Sus artículos se venden en los cinco continentes y cuentan con más de 100 puntos de venta y presencia en tiendas departamentales. Sus productos abarcan accesorios de seda, ropa, joyería, entre otros. Han recibido premios como la Mejor Marca Mexicana.

The company was founded in 1996 by Cristina Pineda and Industrial Designer Ricardo Covalin with the aim to promote Mexican art and culture through design and fashion. Their products are sold on five continents with more than 100 outlets and a strong presence in retail stores. Its products include silk accessories, clothing and jewelry among others. They have received awards for Best Mexican Brand.

STUDIO ORFEO QUAGLIATAEstudio de diseño y mobiliario fundado por Orfeo Quagliata, ubicado en la Ciudad de México. Surge a partir de una colisión de ideologías, la fusión entre lo contemporáneo y lo tradicional, lo técnico y artesanal y lo geométrico y orgánico. Orfeo ofrece una notable consistencia basada en diseño y trabajo técnico fino en vidrio. Ha creado únicos proyectos personalizados de interiorismo, mobiliario y joyería.

Orfeo is a furniture and design studio founded by Orfeo Quagliata, located in Mexico City. Born from a clash of ideologies and the fusion between contemporary and traditional, technical and craftsmanship and geometric and organic, Orfeo offers a remarkable consistency -based design with technical work in fine glass. It has created unique personalized interior design, furniture and jewelry projects.

Born in San Francisco he is a furniture and industrial designer educated at the California College of the Arts , graduating with a High Distinction. His roots led to his work with glass and crystal for over three decades. He has collaborated with American Studio Glass Movement on several design projects and was an assistant architect at Chris Deam and has worked on furniture projects for Air-Stream and Herman Miller.

An Architectural studio founded in 2006 by Gustavo Carmona and Lisa Beltran committed to creating atmosphere through reflective art by trying to find the balance between crafting and technology to create unique solutions. They have developed projects in nine countries and their experience ranges from residential to corporate. It was named one of the top 10 firms in Mexico.

JESÚS CASTILLO RUÍZ–XUZZIFotógrafo con una técnica y estilo propio, en el que la composición de colores y formas son sus aliados. Su amor y pasión por el color rosa lo vuelve una constante en cada proyecto, le gusta trabajar con la sensibilidad y creer que puede romper esquemas atados al color y llevarlo a todo público. Es obsesivo, un eterno enamorado del color, no tiene límites y sabe claramente hacia donde va.

Is a photographer with a very personalized style in which the composition of colors and shapes strive to complement each other. His love and passion for pink has become constant in each project. He likes to work with pink sensitively and believes it can break schemes tied to the color and bring it to the public eye. As an obsessive lover of color eternally he has no limits and clearly knows where it goes.

JAVIER SÁNCHEZ CORRALArquitecto mexicano por la UNAM, actualmente socio fundador y director del Taller de Arquitectura de JSª. Miembro de la Academia Nacional de Arquitectura, ha sido galardonado con más de 80 premios nacionales e internacionales. Recibió el León de Oro por proyecto urbano en Venecia y posee alrededor de 90 proyectos construidos. Su trabajo se basa principalmente en el patrimonio arquitectónico y la intervención contemporánea.

A Mexican architect educated at UNAM, Javier is currently the founding partner and director of Arquitectura de JSª. A member of the National Academy of Architecture he has won over 80 national and international awards. He received the Golden Lion award for his urban project in Venice and has approximately 90 realised projects around the world. His work is mainly based on architectural heritage with contemporary intervention.

The concepts we are about to share with you are the realization of our expert creative panel. Together, we have established the principle values driving future trends, their interpretation, their application and the continuous thread that connects them. Each story is represented by one of four unique experiences influencing 2017.

Tras el final siempre hay un nuevo comienzo. En una sociedad repleta de comodidades y lujos, el presagio de un paisaje post-apocalíptico es igualmente desalentador y atractivo. Despojados de lujos superfluos, los consumidores volvemos a conectar con aquellas necesidades más elementales, mientras la búsqueda por la adaptación y la supervivencia despiertan en nosotros los instintos más básicos. Lejos de ser una búsqueda desesperada y deprimente, esta nueva situación nos llena de energía, bajo la promesa de nuevos descubrimientos y caminos por recorrer. Reencontramos la belleza en lo imperfecto pero factible, los límites son destruidos y florecemos en nuevos mundos renacidos a partir de las cenizas.

After the end there is a new beginning. In a society replete with conveniences and commodities, the contemplation of a post-apocalyptic landscape is daunting and enticing in equal measure. Stripped of luxury we reconnect with our most elemental of needs; our instinctual selves are reawakened in pursuit of adaptation and survival. Far from hopeless, we are energized by the promise of new discoveries and the scope of journeys as yet untravelled. Beauty is found in the imperfect but practicable, boundaries are dismantled and new worlds are rebuilt from the dust.

Poco a poco el bullicioso alboroto de la producción en masa va perdiendo encanto y nos enamoramos de nuevo de aquellos oficios artesanales en peligro de extinción. Técnicas que pasaron de generación en generación a través del tiempo y que se revelan ahora como en el verdadero lujo. Métodos aprendidos, mejorados, perfeccionados y desarrollados con una maestría exquisita y que forman la antítesis de la cultura “a un click”. Cuando experimentamos el trabajo artesanal en contexto traspasamos la barrera de ser solo consumidor y nos convertirnos en clientes. Adquirimos un nuevo estado que nos permite conectar con nuestra herencia, nuestra cultura, y en definitiva, con nosotros mismos.

As the shiny boisterousness of mass production loses its charm, we fall in love all over again with the crafts we are in peril of losing for ever. Artisanal skills passed through the generations invest in time; learning, honing, perfecting and producing and are the antitheses of a ‘one-click’ culture. As such, true craftsmanship is the ultimate luxury. When we experience craft, not as a static object but within the context of its existence, we go beyond being consumers and become patrons; in this we connect with our heritage, our culture and ourselves.

La vida sintética ya no es parte de la ciencia ficción. Hemos progresado mucho más allá de las historias alarmistas de máquinas sin escrúpulos y sin capacidad de sentir, para llegar a un nuevo horizonte donde la mezcla entre humanidad y tecnología evolucionan mucho más allá de lo virtual. Gracias a los avances en la recolección de datos a gran escala, información digital, robótica e ingeniería, nos encontramos en un momento de equilibrio ante el precipicio de cambios radicales que el universo de la vida sintética nos depara. En esta eterna búsqueda por mejorar y alargar la vida humana recurrimos a lo sintético para modificar, mejorar y, finalmente, para auto inspirarnos.

Synthetic life is no longer a science fiction. We have progressed far beyond the cautionary tales of rogue machines achieving sentience and into a horizon where a new blend of humanity and technology evolves beyond the virtual. A plethora of digital content and large-scale data mining with advances in machine learning and robotics finds us balanced on the precipice of seismic changes in our experience of the synthetic. In our eternal quest for life enhancement and extension we turn to the man made to modify, ameliorate and inspire our mortal selves.

Este enfoque de vida lento y calmado, nos ayuda a hacer que el ruido desaparezca y que podamos percibir y apreciar los elementos más tranquilos del diseño. The breakneck speed and chaos of modern life leaves scant time to savor the moment. When we slow our pace our thoughts and breath follow suit and we neither mourn the past, nor dread the future. In being wholly present we experience the only true reality, and our ‘monkey minds’ are stilled. Destino es la paleta más cálida y más terrestre de todas. En ella se celebra la naturaleza y la aventura con el fin de camuflarse como parte del paisaje natural. Nos encontramos colores muy pigmentados y saturados que imitan al barro cocido, los líquenes y la pizarra. Así mismo, colores suaves y fáciles de combinar en tonos arena y cascarón de huevo. Los tonos anaranjados revelan el optimismo inherente que transmite esta paleta.

una clara influencia rural, optimista y alegre. Un pequeño grupo de intensos marrones rojizos conectan con nuestra necesidad más básicas de encontrar comida, refugio y comodidad. Los rosas y los púrpuras presentan roles individuales muy marcados, lo cual, a medida que nos movemos en la gama mejorada de azules maclados y verdes, se traduce en sentimientos tanto de seguridad y calidez como de fría contemplación. Así, nos encontramos a nuestro color del año, Helénico.

The color progression in our 2017 forecast is a gentle, yet significant evolution with natural world inspiration writ large across color groups. Neutral tones retain their importance but with a clear shift to cooler hues. Here the focus is on the mineral; stone, steel, and ash. The warmer elements of the forecast are to be found in an amplified yellow grouping where an emotionally uplifting agricultural influence prevails. A small group of rich red browns speak to our most elemental need for comfort, food and shelter.

Pinks and Purples occupy distinct individual roles, signifying both warm reassurance and cool contemplation as we move into an enhanced arena of blended blues and greens. Here we find our Color of the Year Helénico amid a pool of deep and saturated aquatics intimating serenity and acceptance. Competing the flow is a range of cool, natural greens eliciting a mood of restraint and reflection.
