Peterson struck the deer. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investigated. A one-vehicle acci- dent occurred March 3 at approximately 6:40 p.m. A 1990 Nissan Frontier driv- en by Ricky Mayberry, 54, Baxter Springs, was travel- ing south on Commons Road when it exited the roadway to the east, struck the ditch and rolled onto its top. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investi- gated. A car vs. deer accident occurred February 26 at approximately 6:34 a.m. A 1995 Toyota Camry driven by Genee Mallory, 60, Co- lumbus, was traveling east on Southeast Lostine Road when a deer entered the roadway east of Southeast 50th Street. Mallory struck the deer. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investi- gated. A two-vehicle acci- dent occurred February 25 at approximately 4:59 p.m. A 2014 Nissan Murano driven by Destiny Leake, 19, Bluejacket, Okla., was traveling east on Southeast Highway 166 near South- east 90th Street. Leake did not see a 1996 Chevrolet 1500 driven by Caleb Green, 38, Galena stopped. Leake struck the rear end of the Chevrolet. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investigated. A car vs. deer accident occurred February 24 at approximately 2:42 p.m. A 2008 GMC Canyon driven by John Sterbenz, 73, Ri- verton, was traveling north on Southeast Highway Al- ternate 69 when a deer en- tered the roadway near Southeast Varck Road. Sterbenz struck the deer. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investigated. A one-vehicle acci- dent occurred February 23 at approximately 8:54 p.m. A 2012 Ford F150 driven by Robert Vaughn, 62, Ga- lena, was traveling east on Southeast Bagdad Road. Vaughn went off the road- way to the right and struck two mailboxes. The vehi- cle came to a rest in the ditch near Southeast 107th Terrace. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investi- gated. A car vs. deer accident occurred February 23 at approximately 5:46 a.m. A 2017 Honda Civic driven by Timothy Locke, 50, Baxter Springs, was travel- ing north on Southeast Highway Alternate 69 when a deer entered the roadway just north of Southeast Lostine Road. Locke struck the deer. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investigated. A two-vehicle acci- dent occurred February 22 at approximately 3:46 p.m. A 1999 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Joshua Wyckoff, 18, Cherokee, was travel- ling east on Northwest Highway 400. A 2004 Kia Amanti driven by Tonina Hendrix, 63, Independence was pulling out of the park- ing lot of R&J’s on the west side. She didn’t stop in time and struck the rear end of the Wyckoff vehi- cle. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investi- gated. A car vs. deer accident occurred February 21 at approximately 4:39 p.m. A 2019 Kia Spectra driven by Marvin Diener, 58, Olathe, was traveling north on Highway 7 when a deer en- tered the roadway near West Division Street in Scammon. Diener struck the deer. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investi- gated. A one-vehicle acci- dent occurred February 19 at approximately 8:25 a.m. A 2004 Freightliner semi driven by Andrew Bieker, 48, Gardner, was traveling south on Southwest High- way 69. He took the curve just before Stateline a little too fast, left the roadway and rolled. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investigated. A two-vehicle acci- dent occurred February 17 at approximately 12:52 p.m. A 2007 Hyundai Ac- cent driven by Marvin Hall, 33, Weir, was stopped at a stop sign. A 2003 Dodge Caravan driven by Jessica Haraughty, 18, Os- wego, slid into the rear end of the Hyundai. Jonna Go- mez, 37, Weir, was a pas- senger in the Hyundai. Pas- sengers in the Dodge Caravan included Clayton Holdahl, 19, West Mineral; Dalton Dunnic, 18, Oswe- go and Joshua Christmas, 15, Columbus. No injuries were reported. Labette County Sheriff's deputies investigated. A one-vehicle acci- dent occurred February 15 at approximately 5:26 p.m. A 2006 Scion TC driven by Logan Haraughty, 20, Cherokee, was traveling west on Northeast Scam- mon Road. Logan lost con- trol due to ice on the road- way and went off the to the right. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investi- gated. A one-vehicle acci- dent occurred February 15 at approximately 8:25 a.m. a 2004 Ford Mustang driv- en by Jose Danley, 22, Jop- lin, Mo., was traveling west on Southeast Star Road. Danley lost control of the vehicle due to ice on the roadway. Danley went off the roadway to the right and rolled onto its top. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investigated. A one-vehicle acci- dent occurred February 15 at approximately 7:35 a.m. A 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Amy Lankford, Galena, was traveling southwest while negotiat- ing a curve on Southeast 72nd Terrace. Lankford lost control of the vehicle due to ice on the roadway and slid off the road to the right, hitting a drainage ditch and a tree. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investigated. Lankford was taken to Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo., by Baxter Springs EMS. A one-vehicle acci- dent occurred February 13 at approximately 12:35 p.m. A 1999 Honda Civic driven by Taylor Rich, 32, Fayetteville, Ark., was ne- gotiating a curve out of Missouri and began to head north on Northeast 118th Street near Northeast Scammon Road. Rich swerved to miss another vehicle and went off the roadway to the left. Chero- kee County Sheriff's depu- ties investigated. A car vs. deer accident occurred February 13 at approximately 8:58 a.m. A 2016 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Zachary Wilson, 29, Baxter Springs, was traveling south on 72nd Terrace when a deer en- tered the roadway just north of Southeast High- way 166. Wilson struck the deer. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investi- gated. A backing accident oc- curred February 11 at ap- proximately 3:20 p.m. A 2000 Chevrolet 1500 driv- en by Drew Edmondson, 18, Scammon, was stopped at the intersection of S. Vermont and W. Pine. A 2004 Ford F150 driven by Gabriel Martin, 15, Co- lumbus, backed up into the side of the driver’s door of the Edmondson vehicle. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investigated. A one-vehicle acci- dent occurred February 7 at approximately 6:24 a.m. a 1997 Ford Crown Victoria driven by Kristi West, 37, Oronogo, Mo., was travel- ing west on Northeast Old Highway 96. West lost control just east of North- east 100th Street and went off the roadway to the south. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investi- gated. A one-vehicle acci- dent occurred February 6 at approximately 6:19 a.m. A 2008 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Michael Eaton, 31, Columbus, was travel- ing east on Northwest Area Accident Report Highway 160. He lost con- trol of the vehicle while on the overpass just west of Northwest Highway 7 and struck the guardrail. Cher- okee County Sheriff's dep- uties investigated. A one-vehicle acci- dent occurred February 6 at approximately 5:50 a.m. A 2008 Ford F150 driven by Korey Lucian, 30, Colum- bus, was traveling west on Southwest Highway 160 near Southwest 20th Street. Lucian lost control due to ice on the roadway and went off the road to the left. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investi- gated. An incident involving a 2005 GMC Sierra driven by Edward Bunce, 66, Baxter Springs, was travel- ing north on Southeast 20th Street when just south of Southeast Highway 166 wiring in the dashboard failed, starting a fire that destroyed the vehicle. Cin- dy Bunce, 60, Baxter Springs, was a passenger in the vehicle. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investigated. A car vs. deer accident occurred February 1 at ap- proximately 6:50 p.m. A 2005 Toyota Camry driven by Christa Weber, 22, Pitts- burg, was traveling west on Northeast Old Highway 96 when a deer entered the roadway approximately one half mile west of Northeast 80th Street. We- ber struck the deer. Daniel Warlop, 22, Pittsburg, was a passenger in the vehicle. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investigated. A two-vehicle acci- dent occurred February 1 at approximately 3:40 p.m. A Pontiac Bonneville driven by Juanita Lane, 39, Harri- sonville, Mo., was travel- ing south Pierce Street in Galena. A 2001 Ford Ex- plorer driven by Molly Flowers, 25, Galena, did not yield at the intersection and the vehicles collided. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investigated. A two-vehicle acci- dent occurred January 26 at approximately 5:23 p.m. A 2016 Jeep Wrangler driven by Lisa Morris, 30, Baxter Springs was traveling south on Southeast 90th Street. A 2002 Toyota Echo driven by Benjerman Gil- bert, 19, Chetopa was trav- eling north on Southeast 90th Street. The vehicles collided at the intersection of Southeast 90th and Greenlawn. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investigated. A one-vehicle acci- dent occurred February 28 at approximately 7:20 a.m. A vehicle driven by Alisha Ann Lagrassa, 42, Webb City, Mo., was traveling south on Lions Road. She lost control due to icy con- ditions and began to skid off the roadway at the in- tersection of 19th and Li- ons Road. She left the roadway and struck an overhead power line sup- port pole. Baxter Springs Police Department does not pro- vide vehicle information on accident reports. The following persons are scheduled to appear before Judge John Bullard in Columbus Municipal Court Monday, March 25 at 4 p.m. Matthew D. Bauer, 53, Columbus, is sched- uled for trial on a charge of running at large. Kera L. Belden, 37, Columbus, is scheduled for an initial appearance on two counts of running at large. Amy L. Brumback, 44, Columbus, is scheduled for an initial appearance on charges of running at large. Mar’Qual L. Bur- gin, 21, Kansas City, Mo., is scheduled for review on charges of license sus- pended, revoked or can- celled and maximum speed 11-20 miles per hour over; 50 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour zone. Amber D. Carter, 34, Columbus, is scheduled for an initial appearance on a charge of theft. Levi E. Collier, 22, Columbus, is scheduled for review on a charge of as- sault. Michael T. Coombs, City of Columbus Court Docket 44, Columbus, is scheduled for an initial appearance on a charge of maximum speed 11-20 miles per hour over; 52 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour. David Declue, 40, Columbus, is scheduled for trial on charges of cruelty to animals, animal con- fines; shelter and vaccines required. Amy N. Moore, 35, Columbus, is scheduled for review on charges of do- mestic battery. Brian C. Riley, 27, Columbus, is scheduled for an initial appearance on charges of not provid- ing proof of motor vehicle liability insurance and tail- lamps or tag light required. Christopher L. Sop- er, 53, Columbus, is sched- uled for trial on charges of license suspended, revoked or cancelled. Paul M. Thomas, 16, Columbus, is scheduled for trial on a charge of basic speed rule. Joshua C. Wingo, 41, Neosho, Mo., is scheduled for an initial appearance on a charge of running at large. The City Council of Co- lumbus, Kansas met February 19, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers presided over by Mayor Grant Spieth. City Clerk Report Assistant City Clerk Judi Mogle, filling in for City Clerk Cherri Chancellor, had nothing to report. Mayor Speith mentioned the Legislative Update in- cluded in packets. Chief of Police Report Equipment has been in- stalled in Unit 6, 2019 Dodge Charger, and has been put into service. Danley lost control of the vehicle due to ice on the roadway. Danley went off the roadway to the right and rolled onto its top. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investigated.

A one-vehicle acci-dent occurred February 15 at approximately 7:35 a.m. A 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Amy Lankford, Galena, was traveling southwest while negotiat-ing a curve on Southeast 72nd Terrace. Lankford lost control of the vehicle due to ice on the roadway and slid off the road to the right, hitting a drainage ditch and a tree. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investigated. Lankford was taken to Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo., by Baxter Springs EMS.

A backing accident oc-curred February 11 at ap-proximately 3:20 p.m. A 2000 Chevrolet 1500 driv-en by Drew Edmondson, 18, Scammon, was stopped at the intersection of S. Vermont and W. Pine. A 2004 Ford F150 driven by Gabriel Martin, 15, Co-lumbus, backed up into the side of the driver’s door of the Edmondson vehicle. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investigated.

An incident involving a 2005 GMC Sierra driven by Edward Bunce, 66, Baxter Springs, was travel-ing north on Southeast 20th Street when just south of Southeast Highway 166 wiring in the dashboard failed, starting a fire that destroyed the vehicle. Cin-dy Bunce, 60, Baxter Springs, was a passenger in the vehicle. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investigated.

A car vs. deer accident occurred February 1 at ap-proximately 6:50 p.m. A 2005 Toyota Camry driven by Christa Weber, 22, Pitts-burg, was traveling west on Northeast Old Highway 96 when a deer entered the roadway approximately one half mile west of Northeast 80th Street. A two-vehicle acci-dent occurred January 26 at approximately 5:23 p.m. A 2016 Jeep Wrangler driven by Lisa Morris, 30, Baxter Springs was traveling south on Southeast 90th Street. A 2002 Toyota Echo driven by Benjerman Gil-bert, 19, Chetopa was trav-eling north on Southeast 90th Street. The vehicles collided at the intersection of Southeast 90th and Greenlawn. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies investigated.

A one-vehicle acci-dent occurred February 28 at approximately 7:20 a.m. A vehicle driven by Alisha Ann Lagrassa, 42, Webb City, Mo., was traveling south on Lions Road. She lost control due to icy con-ditions and began to skid off the roadway at the in-tersection of 19th and Li-ons Road. She left the roadway and struck an overhead power line sup-port pole.
