ANTIOQUIAN MINING INDUSTRY
• The province of Antioquia is the biggest gold producer province in Colombia.
• During the 17th century, Antioquia produced more than 40% of the gold production in the world.
• For the past 50 years, miners in the northeast of Antioquia have produced more than 17 mill. of oz of gold.
• In 2005, the gold production in the country reached 1,115,000 oz and Antioquia was responsible for more than 60 % of the country’s gold production, which was 700,000 oz.
