After a few hours, we

arrived in Caen and

we ate at

McDonald’s.

I phoned my parents

to say « everything

is okay! »

Then, we went to the

ferry. There were

shops, a disco,… We

went to sleep at

11p.m. and the night

was cold.

We had lunch in Hyde Park.

Big Ben: This famous monument is very beautiful !

Trafalgar Square: Nelson’s statue is surrounded by imposing lions.

London Eye: It is very high ! I’d like to ride in it !

Piccadilly Circus: It is funny to see giant ads on a building !

The British museum was the first national public museum in the world. It was inaugurated before the French Revolution ! I’m happy to come back in this museum . The building is very beautiful . Inside there are lots of things to see and to learn. This time we saw « the Egyptian sculpture gallery » and « Eqyptian life and death ». I like Egypt’s history, it is very interesting. We had to answer a questionnaire in teams of 11 pupils and one teacher (I’m with Ms Coubetergues). I enjoyed everything but there were too many people. It was noisy. I liked very much the Rosetta Stone. It was found near the village of Rosetta in 1799 by French soldiers of Napoleon’s army. It was written in Hieroglyphics, Demotic and Greek. Champollion used it to find the sense of the Egyptian writing. It is beautiful and I bought a key ring representing the Rosetta Stone.

My guest family ‘s name is Dhaliwal. They come from India and it’s funny because I went there two years ago. I find that their house smells of India. The father’s name is Buta, he is an engineer ( car design). He is very nice and I like speaking with him.

The mother’s name is Shindo, she speaks English with a big Indian accent. She works at university : She is the boss of the canteen. She was the first member of the family I saw and she makes our packed-lunches.

There are two girls : Kiran ( 14 years old) and Jas (12 years old). At the beginning they were very shy but now we speak a lot together and we play French and English games ( for example: cricket, trampoline, Uno,…). They learn French at school and the first thing they asked us is « Do you want some snails and a baguette ?». Sandeep, the 9 year old boy, is very funny ! He often comes to our bedroom door and he knocks on it. Then he runs away !

Today, we are visiting Cadbury World !!! At the beginning we see a museum that teaches us the story of chocolate. It gives the impression that we are in the jungle. At the back of the museum we hear some piece of information. It is difficult because there is a lot of noise. We see a little video and in a room I am surprised by the seats ( they move !!). In another part of this fantastic world we can see a chocolate factory. It smells very good ( chocolate of course!). We can eat a little sample and Ms Sourgens asks a man if he can show us how he makes the chocolate. So , the man makes chocolate Easter eggs in an impressive way. The fire alarm is launched so we must go out and then come back. After that, we go into a kind of car, it is funny. We are now at the end of the visit : the shop ! It is giant and I must be reasonable. We have lunch in a picnic area near the factory. All the pupils go to the games nearby and the others ( with me) go with the teachers to a second Cadbury museum where we see how dairy milk was created by the Cadbury brothers. Finally we can make our chocolate and we choose what we put inside. YUMMIE !!!!

I like this place because I saw lots of old cars, some of them:

One week is too short ! My family is very nice. This morning I got up at 6 o’clock, I had a shower and I ate my breakfast (toasts, fruit and cereals). Then Shindo, the mother, Marie, Mathilde, Noémie and I went to the car...but the car was broken !! It didn’t work ! Shindo phoned her husband and Mathilde phoned Mrs Dubost. Finally, Buta, the father, was back home. He brought Jas to school and us to the coach, which was waiting for us.

During the morning, we went to the Oxford University Museum of Natural History . It’s a beautiful museum. There were skeletons of elephants, of a giraffe, ... And a lot of stuffed animals ! For example: fish (Sockeye salmon, sawfish, thornback ray, ...), platypus, koala, armadillo, cockroaches, dodo, turtle, crocodile, monkeys,... There was a living trap-door spider !!

Then we went to the Pitt Rivers Museum. We didn’t have much time to see it. What a pity! There are some beautiful objects: a totem pole, Fijian necklaces, head-hunter’s trophies, model boats, musical instruments, ...

Oxford !! I enjoyed very much this afternoon! It was sunny. My guide was nice and I learnt lots of things. We couldn’t see “Christ church” but we visited other universities (Divinity college, New college,...). In New college, the cloister is very big and very nice !Now it is known as the scene from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. We saw the Ante-chapel , it’s wonderful !! Inside there is a statue of Lazarus, who, according to a legend, resuscitated thanks to Jesus Christ. After the guided tour of Oxford we had free time to buy souvenirs.

Hampton Court Hampton Court is a beautiful palace. It

was one of the homes of Henry VIII. The

buildings are big and impressive. There are

lots of chimneys.

We had audio guides and we learnt

different things about the time when the

King was in the palace (kitchen,...)

The Gardens of Hampton Court are very famous. There are lots of

flowers, a maze (so funny!), canals, ... They are BEAUTIFUL !!
