Scope and Content Note: Dorothy Godfrey Wayman’s was an author and journalist. She published numerous books, including Citizen Patriot, the biography of David I. Walsh, and stories while working as a reporter. Her literary career spanned five decades. When her marriage ended in divorce, she became the sole support of her three sons. Born an Episcopalian, she converted to Catholicism in 1939. Father Francis Archdeacon, S.J. arranged for her instruction at Boston College, and in 1949 she was baptized in St. Mary’s Church at Boston College. This event forged a bond between her and the Jesuits. She worked tirelessly with the Guild of Our Lady of Ransom to rehabilitate prisoners, parolees and ex-convicts. The collection consists of biographical and personal papers, correspondence, diaries, journals, notebooks, scrapbooks, photographs, artifacts, manuscripts, and books arranged in 8 series.
