Dr. Schunn will share details of their program, including academic gains resulting from DBL, especially with traditionally underserved minority populations. 3:15-4:30 pm Join teachers for Misconceptions in Science and Math Presenters: Ms. Meri Johnson, Dr. David Vernot (members of CEEMS Resource Team) Location: Campus Recreation Center 3210 CEEMS is supported by the National Science Foundation (grant #1102990). “What can you do for CEEMS’ success at your school or district?

10:30 am to 2 pm Exploring Engineering Design in the draft Next Generation Science Standards(with break for lunch)

Presenter: Dr. Ramon Lopez, University of Texas, Arlington

Dr. Lopez is one of the writers of the Next Generation Science Standards. He will provide a brief overview of the development of NGSS and take the audience through a series of activities and exercises to illustrate how the engineering design component could be implemented in a middle school science classroom.

2-3 pm Plan of Action
