SALE REPORT
~ A wonderful day with over 1400 lots sold and in excess of 500 potential buyers present ~
618 MACHINERY (NON VAT) – AUCTIONEER DAVID C KIVELL Another huge entry of goods saw a top call of £5,400 for the ’06 reg Mitsubishi pick up from Steve Pearce of Launceston. An outstanding line up of Cornish granite saw a massive trade with the best Granite circles reaching a
massive trade of £2,200 on behalf of M/S Parsons of Callington with plenty of other pieces between £400-£700.
A mass of garden and grass cutting equipment saw the best to £360 for the JS Lawn mower with plenty of strimmers between £60-£130.
506 MACHINEY (+ VAT) – AUCTIONEER JAMES MORRISH
A huge entry of ‘plus VAT’ saw the top of the 10 tractors sold to £24,000 for the ’56 reg Kubota Tractor in from M/S Vallance of Lewdown. The Massey 6265 sold at £11,000 for Will Jennings of Torrington whilst the New Holland reached £7,800 going to its new home near Woolsery. The dispersal from Mr Penhale of Launceston saw the ‘Star of the day’ being the Y reg David Brown tractor race away to £6,900 following a bidding war involving 6 buyers.
Amongst the machinery was the John Deere bale wrapper from Graham Rawlings which reached £5,200 going to its new home in West Cornwall. M/S Phipps of Exbourne saw their International 785 sell to one North Tawton farmer at £4,500 whilst the best of a total of 11 vans & cars sold to £3,900 for M/S Harper of Milton.
A total of 14 trailers saw a top of £2,600 for the Frazer silage trailer from Antony Parkhouse of Winkleigh with the best slurry tanker at £1,750 for Will & John Prouse of Torrington.

A much improved entry of pigs in terms of quality and quantity. Top call of the 29 cull sows was £168 for a heavyweight from M/S Dunston of Constantine in Cornwall followed by a nice run of white sows from M/S WJ Watkins & Son of Holsworthy at £160, £159, £155 & £154. Top of the prime pigs was the pick of the prime boars from John Kingdom of Newquay with M/S Henaford Partnership of Welcombe at £102, M/S Rowe of Looe enjoyed a successful day hitting £102 and Roger Daniel of Bradworthy at £86. A nice entry of store pigs saw John Kingdom of St Mawgan, Cornwall
top at £152 for a sow & 3 whilst his young stores hit £61 for gilts & £54 (x5) for 6wo boars. The best of the very young ‘slip pigs’ came in from Edward Bailey at £34.
Next Pig sale at Holsworthy Livestock Market will be on Saturday 3rd June 2017.
196 SHEEP – AUCTIONEER STEVE PROUSE A nice entry of sheep saw a top call of £170 for couples on behalf of Mike Folkend on Roborough with Ian Shute close up at £163. Tom Dawe of Tavistock saw a very useful trade for his smart line up of White faced ewes at £158 with plenty between £140-£160. The best of the rams came from (new daddy) Steve Cobbledick of Poundstock at £105
with M/S May of Week St Mary close up at £84. A superb trade for the goats with the best at £210 on behalf of Winston Davey & others from the same farm at £168.
22 CATTLE – AUCTIONEER JAMES MORRISH Numbers were tight but buyers were plentiful with the top call being £1,491 for the 5 year old Hereford bull from Mr Letchford of
Bradworthy and going to its new
home in South Cornwall. M/S Vallance of Lewdown topped the heifer department with their best Devon x heifers at £472 with others from the same good farm at £420. The best of the Highland cattle saw plenty of interest with the best (12 months) heifers to £359 & £315.
