It’s strength is similar to Teak.

A soft wood with an impressive

yellow/green grain. Our pine

comes from Poland and needs

to be treated with a softwood

preservative. It has a 3 year

warranty and a durability of up to

10 years. Our Pine is FSC 100%.

A hardwood which is brown in

colour and has a striped grain. Its

naturally high oil content gives

resistance to extreme weather,

making it very durable, it has a

10 year warranty and a durability

of up to 25 years. Our premium

grade Teak is sourced from

Brazil. Our Teak is FSC 100%.

Rose-Sling is a synthetic,

highly flexible, tensile-strength

polyethylene fibre. It is 100%

recyclable, a non toxic material

and is insensitive to UV Rays.

It has a 10 year warranty and a

durability of up to 25 years

A hardwood that is pinkish in

colour and darkens to a typical

Mahogany reddish brown. It has

a 3 year warranty and a durability

of up to 10 years. It is sourced

from The Congo, Central Africa.

Our Mahogany is FSC MIX.

A dense, closely grained

hardwood, which has been oiled

giving each piece of furniture

a smooth brown finish. Our

Cornis timber originates from

the Eucalyptus trees in Uruguay

and has a 3 year warranty and a

durability of up to 10 years. Our

Cornis is FSC 100%.

A hardwood coated in a

polyurethane satin finish white

paint. The timber is a species

of Eucalyptus sourced from

Uruguay, it has a 3 year warranty

and a durability of up to 10 years.

Alexander Rose has been at the forefront of garden furniture design and manufacturing since 1994, and has gained a

reputation as one of the market leaders for high quality timber products.

For the past twenty years we have designed many classic furniture pieces across a variety of durable FSC hardwoods and

softwoods. These timbers are ideal for manufacturing the finest construction details in wood, and make our furniture stand

out and appreciated by our discerning customers.

Our timber collection offers a full range of furniture in three sustainably sourced woods. The premium hardwood range

is made from Bolivian Roble, one of the world’s strongest and most durable woods. Our second hardwood range is Cornis

from Uruguayan Eucalyptus trees. Our third wooden range is made in Eastern European softwood Pine, a timber suited to

more rustic furniture.

In addition to these wood ranges we have specific offerings in Teak, Mahogany and white painted furniture.

Alexander Rose has the widest selection of timber benches in the UK and developed the pioneering curved back slat bench

which has become a recognised ergonomic design classic that is accepted as the modern day alternative to the original and

traditional straight back slat bench. Our company values include a commitment to sustainability, and our timber collections

Our Roble collection provides some of the most beautiful garden furniture

available, in a selection of contemporary and traditional designs. So whether you

prefer precise angles and horizontal joints, or traditional classic designs – here

The UHP parasol is easy to operate with the simple handle and lock

mechanism. To rotate the parasol simply unlock the handle and move into

the desired position, and then lock the handle to secure. They can be easily

bolted to an Alexander Rose UHGB40 granite base.

The UHY is a 16 spoke curved 3.0m cantilever parasol. As with the UHP it

is easy to raise and lower the canopy with a crank handle mechanism. The

canopy can be adjusted into 5 positions to give maximum shade from the

sun. The parasol also has a foot operated pedal for 360º rotation. For use

with the UHGB90.

The UH35 parasol has a unique design, tilting to 180º covering the

slightest of angles to protect everyone from the sun. The main feature as

with all cantilever is the ability to spin 360º on its axis. Easy to operate with

the simple crank handle, you will be shaded from the sun in seconds. They

can be easily bolted to an Alexander Rose UHGB90 granite base.

Cantilever Parasols

Our elegant cantilever parasols can be positioned to

provide maximum shade. They appear to float above

the furniture and can be manually rotated on its own

axis to follow the sun. It is freestanding allowing you to

position the furniture underneath, rather than around

a central pole as with conventional designs. The crank

mechanism enables effortless use.

The parasols are made using lightweight durable

polyester fabric which is water resistant and easy to

clean. To clean your parasol we advise that the fabric is

kept attached to the frame, use a soft brush or broom

and warm soapy water. For more stubborn stains the

canopy can be removed and washed at 30˚C. Once

washed it is important to put the canopy back on the

frame to dry.UHP

Our cushion bags come in 3 sizes, small medium & large to accommodate

your set of cushions. All of our bags are weather resistant, but we

recommend storing the cushions in the bag in a dry place when not

required.

The small cushion bag is designed for the recliner seat cushions; it will fit

up to 6 cushions. It will fit the Portofino cushions as well as a number of

scatter cushions.

The medium bag is designed to hold the lovers recliner cushions as well as a

number scatter cushions.

The larger bag is designed to fit a large number of cushions, this includes

Tent Effect

Depending on the type of Alexander Rose furniture you have, it may be

necessary to place an object such as a bucket between the furniture and

the cover. This will reduce the amount of sagging, and will help the airflow

around the furniture, this will prevent the chance of rotting occuring to

furniture.

Alexander Rose manufactures garden furniture which will last for many

years. Over time, as part of the natural weathering process, cracks and

splits will appear in the wood particularly on the end grain and to a lesser

extent on the surface.

The drier the wood, the more cracks will appear due to the evaporation of

natural oils and minerals in the wood from exposure to the elements. As

with most hardwoods, this is a normal characteristic for any timber which

remains outdoors.

Our timber furniture is designed with this in mind and its strength and

durability will remain unaffected.

Wooden furniture can be treated with our specially formulated care

products to give a beautiful rich finish and enhance the look of the wood.

Alternatively it can be left to turn a mellow silver grey, and should be

cleaned occasionally with

soapy water.

New England Maintenance

Alexander Rose New England furniture is produced in a matt white finish,

this is the result of two coats of polyurethane paint to the Eucalyptus

timber. After time there may be hairline cracks in the finish, this is due to

the timber moving. Expansion and contraction of timber is normal and is

caused by climatic variation, this becomes noticable around the joints.

The New England benches are designed to be used outside, we

recommend regular maintenance to retain its original condition, this can

be done by sanding the effected area down to the natural timber, a reddish

colour, then re-apply evenly a white matt polyurethane paint to the area.

Polyurethane paint can be purchased from any DIY or Hardware store, if

you are unsure about what paint to use please contact Alexander Rose.

Weathering occurs over a period of time, you can expect to see changes

in the timber after a few weeks. Timber is a natural material, it absorbs

moisture in wet conditions and is likely to expand. In dry conditions the

timber dries and may shrink a very small amount,

as the material moves surface cracks will appear in the timber. You can

maintain the appearance of your furniture by lightly sanding down the

timber and applying one of our formulated care products, see below for

results.

Alexander Rose offers an engraving service with three options, brass

plaque, stainless steel plaque and direct engravings onto our furniture.

Our brass plaque offer a more traditional look for your inscription.

Stainless steel plaques provide a more contemporary look with a silver

shine, they will not rust.

If you are looking for something unique we offer a direct engrave service,

your inscription is carved directly into the timber by a computer aided

engraving machine. A direct engraving will mellow down along with the

bench to a silver grey finish if left untreated, you will find treatment

recommendations on page 108.

We have designed two types of anchors for different surfaces, the most

common being lawns. Using an Alexander Rose soft ground anchor kit

avoids the need for concrete, installation is quick and easy without any

mess.

Our soft ground anchors come with solid brass plates that screw onto the

outside legs, these have sleeves to allow the anchors to pass through and

penetrate the surface. When an anchor approaches its maximum depth

(500mm) a curved fluke is released to grip the bench further into the

surface, adding more security.

Our bolt down anchors are designed to be used with concrete, they have

a maximum depth of 110mm and requires a 20mm masonary drill bit to

install them.

The Teak Story

When used outside,UV rays will eventually turn the table into a beautiful

silver grey color. If customers would like to restore the table to its original

colour, we recommend using a wire brush. By simply brushing the surface

of the table the grey layer will disappear and reveal the teak colour; using a

steel brush instead of sandpaper will keep the characteristic grain.

For cleaning the table we advise using warm soapy water applied with a

medium hard brush.

Do not use any aggressive cleaning products such as bleach as this can

cause permanent stains.

The photos below illustrate how the mortice holes have been filled with

Teak.

Rustic teak tables are made from reclaimed teak wood that comes from old

Indonesian houses which are not in use anymore. Since the best teak furniture

comes from mature trees, it can take around 80 years before a teak tree

planted today is harvested for wood. Because of this, and the fact that it is

such an excellent material, old teak is often reclaimed from derelict structures

and given new life as furniture.

Reclaimed teak gets its rustic look from years of ageing. To add to this rustic

look we leave some of the original construction “features” such as holes

caused by large nails, and on some tops you may notice pieces of teak have

been spliced into old mortice holes, and it is precisely these intentional details

that make each table interesting and unique; a real slice of 18th century

history reworked for you to appreciate and enjoy.

Recycled teak will naturally react to seasonal changes in temperature just like

all other wood, and this can cause small cracks that enhance the aged look of

the table giving it even more character. Because of the high quality joinery

methods, this will not affect the stability of the table.
