COLLABORATIVE CREATIONS

“Politeness costs nothing but is worth a fortune.”

This is a group project made up of several IMVU creators and developers who work together to create items submitted into the catalogue. The group was set up by sintek who firstly approached a number of developers / creators who he knew or had previously worked with, asking them if they would be interested in joining a small group. Since then the group has grown in numbers and through the team spirit of all members has now become a successful developer in its own right, submitting more that 20 complete bundles ranging from a winter wonderland through to special occasions such as valentines and Christmas. The members share suggestions and propose future bundles, also sharing textures used to ensure that all products making up a bundle match to ensure continuity. Members also help each other where possible providing advice and guidance on developing / creating and using the previewer also sharing tips and tricks. Please feel free to browse the following pages, which show a selected few of our completed bundles. More are available on our avatar page. Please feel free to visit!

CANCER AWARENESS BUNDLE

Cancer has touched so many lives; even members of the

COLLABORATIVE CREATIONS group have had experiences with this disease and the grief it can cause.

This is our tribute to those currently experiencing this disease and to those who have overcome it. To raise awareness of the importance of

regular screening and to the issue as a whole. This bundle is brought to at COST PRICE. None of the developers /

creators who participated in creating this bundle are making any profit on this bundle.

The bundle contains the Room, a log cabin on the bank of a river, furnishings for the cabin, sofa, spa for example, a fountain and flowers.

Made to raise awareness but to promote a peaceful place for you to relax. Colours used symbolise the Pink as used for Cancer, textures

have been shared so all furnishings match. A lot of furniture spots and standing spots in and out of the cabin including a number in the river.

I must say a very special thank you to the wonderful developers /

creators below who participated in this. Achilles, ATsvSDvLight - bigheartedbigDrWinn - Cheelara1 - DarlinLila -

BRITISH BUNDLE

For this bundle I gave the creators from the COLLABORATIVE CREATIONS group a challenge. As most of the group is made up of American creators and I am British I asked them to come up with a

bundle that in their opinion epitomised the United Kingdom. The group rose to the challenge admirably and did themselves proud. In my

personal opinion this IS the best bundle the group of creators has made so far. If you would like to experience life in the UK as seen through the creative talents of American IMVU creators please consider this bundle, regardless of where you come from the products included in this bundle

are amazing. A room containing a massive house, which you can furnish, a yacht to sail on the lake, the best dog I have seen on IMVVU

for years (looks so real) and included in a number of these products are sound effects such as rain (which apparently it does all the time in the

United Kingdom lol).

Page 19: COLLABORATIVE CREATIONS MAGAZINE

COLLABORATIVE CREATIONS Magazine 19

MVU Name- ATsvSDvLight Does your IMVU name have a special meaning? ATsvSDvL simply means "Light" in Cherokee from my own people. How long have you been here? I joined 11/12/06...at the

request of my oldest daughter..(she wanted free credits lol) How long have you been a developer? I have been off and on now for about 3 years Wanna tell why you started to develop? I first started making things for my husband and family because at the time I started we had just a very small choice of Native American items in the catalogue. And even fewer meshes. What was the hardest thing you ever made? The hardest thing...hhhmmmm.. I think that had to be the men’s bustle or learning to add sound to an item.. What was the easiest thing you ever made? Besides stickers it has to be the Men's EZtees! those were a lot of fun What is your favourite item you have made for sale and why? My favourite, Well I am not sure. I pick and choose a lot. I am very picky I tend to make things that I know me or family will enjoy. I don’t think I can pick just one. Whom have you learned the most from? Well Sintek has to be at the top of the list. But I also have to give thanks to Keef and Adventseed and Cassiopia. They helped me alot. I also cannot forget my native family and friends here that have challenged me to make things for them and given me support and ideas.

Page 20: COLLABORATIVE CREATIONS MAGAZINE

COLLABORATIVE CREATIONS Magazine 20

MVU Name- DarlinLila Wanna tell Why you started to develop? DarlinLila had never intended to become a developer on IMVU. Her passion had always been in writing. After joining IMVU three years ago (2007), she signed on as a content creator. Lila honestly didn’t take the developing that serious. It wasn’t until a year ago that the creativity of developing overtook the passion for writing. Which saddens her, yet she enjoys another outlet of being creative. She started with basic items; furniture, hair and nails. Last year, she followed tutorials of long standing developers

and learned about opacity maps. That was what sparked the creative side of her. Lila still struggles to offer a clean opacity on her products despite a year of doing them. She’s not yet acquired the skill to just whip up an opacity map. What was the hardest thing you ever made? The hardest product she had ever done was her Asian Sunset Room. It was mesh that lacked maps needed for texturing. So it took several hours and days to create her own maps and put them to the room. It’s also her favourite room. It’s really hard to say what product is her favourite because she likes so many of them. Otherwise she probably wouldn’t have created them. She will admit that she does enjoy making the Mermaid/Man Tails and Tops, especially the exclusive Mermaid/Man Bundles. What was the easiest thing you ever made? The easiest product she ever made was in the beginning. Like many starting developers, she figured you just slapped a texture on and put it in the catalogue. It was probably nails. She is proud of her work now, spending time on each item, not only putting it together, but creating a nice catalogue page as well. Whom have you learned the most from? Good friends in a few group have offered much support and many helpful tips that helped DarlinLila progress further up that tier ladder as a developer. She has often said that if it weren’t for them, she would not be where she is now.

IMVU Name ErieHerbGarden Does your IMVU name have a special meaning? It used to lol. Erie Herb Garden was the name of a health supplement business I was trying

to start and it never took off, but my IMVU business did, so I kept it. Everyone knows me as Erie anyway. How long have you been here? A little over a year now. I joined in January of 2009 but didn't actually start exploring the community until sometime in February, when I started modeling. How long have you been a developer? Exactly one year this month. Wanna tell why you started to develop? Honestly, I just wanted a chair with my name on it lol. Once I started to see how much fun it was, I was hooked. What was the hardest thing you ever made? The trucks and trailers for my husband's catalogue. It took me 4 days to do one tractor/trailer set, because I wanted it to be as real as possible. Being so intimately aquatinted with the trucking industry, I knew there were standards that had to be met, and they turned out beautifully. What was the easiest thing you ever made? Just about any poster that happens to be in my catalogue lol. What is your favourite item you have made for sale and why? Each new item I come out with is my new favourite lol. I'm just amazed at how my skills progress with each new project. If someone had told me a year ago that I would be doing all these beautiful things, I would have laughed at them. I didn't even have graphics skills back then. Whom have you learned the most from? I would have to say quietdragon. Not only has he shared little tips here and there for making something better, but he has supported me throughout my entire developing career. I don't think I would still be doing it if it weren't for him. He's a great friend and a good teacher. He has given me the skills I need to venture out on my own and for that I will always be grateful.

MVU Name- LokiDarkfire

Does your IMVU name have a special meaning? Well, not really, I used to be a big RP gamer and as a result have an expansive guild over several different games called The Darkest Flames I kinda took the Darfire from that, Loki is just y real name. How long have you been here? According to y doohicky I have been here since 04/22/08 I joined due to an on-line relationship I was involved in this offering us a way to be somewhat closer, promptly quit for several months when we broke up, then came back...er...with another woman (yes, yes I know) anyway when things didn't work out with her I had far too many reasons to stay. How long have you been a developer? My first item was the 26th of July 2009 a set of wings animated, I changed the triggers added sound was proud ^^, and I have been meshing in 3D max for about 2 months Wanna tell why you started to develop? Well first reason we simply because every time I looked for something I wanted I could never find it, eventually I began to enjoy it so much I couldn't stop, I keep setting myself goals. I started meshing for 2 reasons, 1, well, credits? and 2, more importantly, to me at least, I wanted to see what other people could achieve from the things I created, what my designs could inspire. What was the easiest thing you ever made? hmm probably my King/Queen of the world crown, my only mesh that gave me no issue at all haha What is your favourite item you have made for sale and why? Oh that has to be my steampunk watch my most detailed and complex mesh but I totally love it! Whom have you learned the most from? This is a very hard question for me I am almost 100% self thought through guessing pretty much though when I have needed something nerseus has always helped me when he can, I suppose my biggest help has always been my inspirations, I tend to lack imagination so when people suggest something it helps me A LOT on this basis sintek, SciQuest, Seliania (yes I checked the spelling) Ge, MissVix and maxsmoke777. I do have a terrible memory so I may have missed someone, if so my apologies.

Page 23: COLLABORATIVE CREATIONS MAGAZINE

IMVU Name- MommaReggie Does your IMVU name have a special meaning? Of course it does. My real name is Regina but got nicknamed Reggie in 9th grade. Since then, ALL of my kids friends have called me Momma and Reggie got added to it in real. I started my MySpace using MommaReggie so I would be easy to find. It carried over to here....LOL How long have you been here? Since 8-19-2007 how long have you been a developer? I started developing shortly after I joined because I need certain stickers for my homepage. I already had my

own textures and some skills due to Paint Shop Pro, which I began

playing with in 1997. Wanna tell Why you started to develop? truth.....It was a great way for me to play in Paint Shop Pro and actually USE the talent I had. I had tons of graphics that I had made and lots of simple tubes but no way to share them with others. LOL What was the hardest thing you ever made? I can't put a finger on just one. The Doc Doctors were time consuming because each required about 50 new textures .My Peppermint mansion was tough but so was the Fairy Room. Some of the clothes were hard because I am picky about making sure things line up. The Halloween organ was rough because I worked on it until the cobwebs didn't look stretchy. Haha What was the easiest thing you ever made? HAIR! Once I made textures that I LOVE....I saved them. Now when I find a new hair I want to do....I just use those textures. (5 minutes and 5 new hairs are in my catalogue) LOL. What is your favourite item you have made for sale and why? I don't really have a favourite item. I have a favourite hair, a favourite outfit, a favourite room, a favourite bed but not just one favourite thing. Whom have you learned the most from? (stealing some of these words from Sandrealla) I will definitely give Sintek full credits for my meshing knowledge! also owe a shout to Dawning Developers for always being encouraging and supportive, also SchattenHaus Developers. who make it possible for ""Noobs"" to get the start they deserve. Not to mention the many friends along the way who have helped me in ways they don't even realize. Some have came up with joint ventures that pushed me along or questions that sent me on a search for answers. Each one person who has came into my IMVU life has made me who I am today.

Page 24: COLLABORATIVE CREATIONS MAGAZINE

IMVU Name- Sandrealla Does your IMVU name have a special meaning? Of course it does. It was a name I came up with as a Young Girl fantasising of Fairies, Unicorns, Price Charming (where the hell is he?) and Children for my Future. How long have you been here? Since 6-10-2007 How long have you been a developer? I started almost immediately after accidentally discovering IMVU, but only adding some one else’s texture to someone else’s mesh lol. I had no prior

skills to any of the software used to be a developer lol But I was never seriously interested until we'll say February of last year 2009. Wanna tell Why you started to develop? At first it was a shopping thing lol I loved to shop and couldn't really afford to buy the credits as I was spending them lol so I derived a few items I noticed everyone had and or wish listed and it made enough to allow me to shop the IMVU catalogue. True Story shhh!! lol What was the hardest thing you ever made? OMG the Cloths! Every mesh different be it size, or layers lol What was the easiest thing you ever made? I'd have to say the easiest thing I ever made was conversation, lol no seriously Stickers were pretty easy I think, yeah Stickers. What is your favourite item you have made for sale and why? Well G's lets see I Like everything I have made lol be it that I actually manage to do it, I love making things for others to enjoy. Whom have you learned the most from? I will definitely give Sintek and Hellstrong full credits for my meshing knowledge! Guitarland for my how to add sounds umm I also owe a shout to Dawning Developers they gave me the self esteem to try new things and are always encouraging and supportive, also SchattenHaus Developers who make it possible for ‘Noobs’ to get the start they deserve. Oh I cant leave Keef out OMG *waves @ Keef* My First Teacher XXX And last but not least you My Supporters with out you, All is just unused knowledge *winks*

MVU Name- Sanshark Does your IMVU name have a special meaning? yes in real life I’m known as San the Card Shark (I play a mean hand of spades) so when I came here I used Sanshark How long have you been here?

I have been on IMVU since Jan 08. A girlfriend of mine sent me a invite and I saw her avatar I fell in love with her and wanted one LOL How long have you been a developer? I started developing in June of 08 (got fed up with spending 200ks a month shopping) Wanna tell why you started to develop? To break my shopping addiction. What was the hardest thing you ever made? I would say in the beginning everything as time went along pvc. What was the easiest thing you ever made? Hair I quickly stopped doing it as I became bored to death with making them. What is your favourite item you have made for sale and why? I must say my Valentine's Day Room. It is very romantic and sexy. Whom have you learned the most from? Well I must say that 90% of what I have learned came the hard way from trial and error. But I will say Pleazur showed me the basics of making a room with the color by numbers room & Loving Dragon showed me different things in photoshop. I try to research information before I ask people for help like using Keef's Tutorials so thanks for making them. I believe anyone serious about this will continue to learn new things because once we stop striving to learn boredom will set in and GAME OVER.

Page 26: COLLABORATIVE CREATIONS MAGAZINE

IMVU Name- Schatten Does your IMVU name have a special meaning? The name began as SchattenWulf; a tribute to a friend initially, but with parallels to my own personality. How long have you been here? Since December of 2008. How long have you been a developer? Since February of 2008. Wanna tell why you started to develop? Developing began as a suggestion from a friend, who noticed my love for decorating rooms. At the time, I entertained the idea, but very lightly, thinking

I wouldn't have the time or knack for making virtual products, though the idea of being able to contribute more to imvu's very small Tibetan catalogue was tempting. Eventually I decided to give it a try and opened a multiple layer room in previewer. Hours later, I had my first product, based on Tibet (one of my greatest loves), and shortly thereafter I was appointed as a family architect for an rp group. I branched out from there and continue to develop primarily rooms and furniture, though from time to time I still torture myself with clothing products, my staunchest natural enemy. What was the hardest thing you ever made? A skin template from scratch. It was something I never wanted to do, except I had to do it because I have a hard time dwelling in ignorance or failure, two words that seemed to me to apply to my first skin attempts. With mentoring and several days to study and work on it, I finally had my very own original skin template. It's not the best, but it's mine...and I still prefer making rooms and furniture. What was the easiest thing you ever made? A bench or chair with two texture layers. It was my second item and I never submitted it. After having finished a heavily layered room, I felt kind of under whelmed by the simplicity of the chair. What is your favourite item you have made for sale and why? I think my favourite item is my Modern Himalayan Home. I really enjoy the simplicity of the space and the way the textures laid on for a smooth, warm atmosphere. It's very homey and exotic at the same time, and a room I spend a lot of time in. Whom have you learned the most from? In terms of texturing rooms and furniture, I am primarily self taught and through the course of stumbling through various programs and experimentation have tried to help others as much as I can. In terms of developing clothing and general support, I owe more than I can say to my partner, Tateyaku (formerly Blume). He has refused to let my emotional side get the better of me from the start. Along the way, I've also gained a lot of priceless support and shared knowledge from friends I've met in groups.

IMVU Name sintek

Does your IMVU name have a special meaning? I like to think it means sinful technology but its really just a name I thought up. How long have you been here? Well it says on my profile I joined in 18 February 2007. How long have you been a developer? Now that I cant remember. I think I started with stickers as soon as I came to IMVU. Wanna tell why you started to develop? I like to learn new things. I can’t just sit still and watch TV, so I thought this would keep me

occupied in my free time. What was the hardest thing you ever made? The most recent thing is the hardest thing I have ever made, I always try to push myself, to create something better. What was the easiest thing you ever made? I’m good at making mistakes, they come easy to me, but I learn from them. What is your favourite item you have made for sale and why? My favourite thing I have made has got to be my fairground and all the fair rides, also my fat2fit range of fitness items, I am so proud of them. Whom have you learned the most from? When I first came to IMVU the developers / creators on here tended not to answer questions, keeping how they made items to themselves. I am all self taught, with help from various people along the way. I vowed to myself them that if I ever get into a position where I can help new developers / creators I would. This is why I wrote my guides. Due to my visual impairment it has been hard at times also a steep learning curve, but I look back now on what I have achieved and I will admit I do feel proud.

IMVU Name- Tawnyjane Does your IMVU name have a special meaning? Yes. It is my nickname and middle name put together. How long have you been here? 11-13-2007 How long have you been a

developer? I started developing shortly after I joined. Wanna tell why you started to develop? I started to develop after I read that I could make my own clothes and other items and sell them in the IMVU catalog. What was the hardest thing you ever made? Opacity maps and Meshes. What was the easiest thing you ever made? Retexturing Hair, Clothes and making stickers. What is your favourite item you have made for sale and why? Too hard to pick just one I like the items I make. Whom have you learned the most from? For Developing, I learned most of it all from my dear friend decbaby1966. She took me under wing and I learned a lot from her about Opacity maps, clothes, furniture ect.. For Meshes, I learned from Sintek he has been the most helpful and encouraging person that I know. I also thank others in all my groups for sharing there tips, tuts and other items they all have been a helpful hand in my developing career.
