CCS Award Winners Reports Yearly reports for students from Kindergarten to Year 10 will be distributed on Monday, 15 th December. For those students who are absent on the day, reports will be available from the Front Office up until Wednesday (17 th December) morning, after which they will be mailed home. Lions Youth of the Year Last week, Stage 6 students had the opportunity to listen to Ian Sutherland speak with regard to the Lions Youth of the Year Quest. This Quest is aimed at encouraging personality development, confidence, self-expression, citizenship, public speaking and leadership in youth. It provides all entrants with invaluable experiences that will help them in their future endeavours. The quest is open to all students aged between 15 and 19. Entry forms are available at the Front Office. Primary Swimming A reminder that Primary Swimming will be starting on Thursday this week. Students should have returned their notes and money by now. Once again, thank you to the P &C for their contribution towards the costs of this important program. If your child does not have a season pass for the pool, they will also need to bring $1.50 each day for pool entry. Great things from Year 5/6 I must congratulate the Year 5/6 class for their efforts last week. I have heard nothing but great things about the four days that the kids spent in Ballarat. I would like to acknowledge Dave Watts, Julie Bellato, and Chris White who accompanied the class on the excursion. Thank you for all your hard work. Your efforts are much appreciated. Presentation Night Don’t forget our Annual Presentation Night which will be held on Tuesday 16 th December, at the Coleambally Community Club. The evening will commence at 7p.m. and all are welcome to attend. It’s important to be at school I know the end of the year is near and lots of things are happening. But – regular attendance at school is important for students to reach their true potential. Attending school every day makes learning easier. For younger students, missing the basic skills often leads to learning problems later on and for older students absenteeism will interfere with academic progress. Do yourself a favour – be at school. Enjoy the week John McFadyen

THE EXCURSION 'Twas the 5/6 crew from Coly that lined up by the gate.
For the Allen's bus from Wagga, they really couldn't wait.
They stowed their bags and climbed on up, aboard the
Ballarat bus.
They travelled to the diggings; you should've heard the noise
and fuss.
Like galahs perched in the treetops they screeched throughout
the day.
While trapped and tortured adults wished it was in their beds
they'd stayed.
Broken phones and iPods dropped upon the ground.
Tears, tantrums and heartbreak erupting all around.
Lost and stolen wallets...
Clothes….Thongs…..and money
Usually turned up later……Well…..
Isn't that funny?
Accusing fingers pointing…… they wanted me to throw the
book.
Wouldn't have even happened had they taken time to look.
Sour worms’n warheads…. Milk bottles and chocolate bars.
Greasy'n sticky fingers waving at passing cars.
One minute playing nicely, getting on like a house on fire.
Next moment, heated arguing……good grief I’m starting to
tire.
And then there was the trip back home to peaceful Coly town.
Complaints about the time it takes just to get around.
"Are we nearly there yet?" Or "how much longer now to go?"
Like a chorus of chirping crickets, they always wanted to
know.
"Well, my guess is as good as yours". I'd say for those who'd
bother to hear.
Now I know I'm not supposed to speak like this, it's not for
children's ears...
But…. Get me home quickly, cos I really want a beer.

Secondary News Science
All Science students from years 8-10 are currently working
on their student research projects. This will require them to
undertake a scientific investigation under their parents/carers
supervision and to present it in a poster format. All students
have been issued with a paper copy of the task.
Key dates:
Friday 28th November - Research proposal is due in class
(9G to hand in before school/lunch)
Friday 12th December - Completed task is due in class (9G to
hand in before school/lunch)
Additional notes:
Any student who knows they will be absent on the due dates
must see their Science teacher and hand in the work due prior
to their absence.
Students must have at least one /two photos of themselves
with the equipment to verify they have undertaken the task.
We are more than happy to assist with the printing of any
photos before Friday 12th December.

Paper Aeroplanes
News
Kindergarten, Year 2, Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 have been exploring Physical Sciences this term. This week classes made a variety of different paper
aeroplanes!
Kindergarten have been learning about things that can move while Year 2 have been learning
about push and pull forces.
Year 3/4 have been investigating forces including friction and gravity.
Year 5/6 have been learning about forms of
energy and how energy is used.
Pictured below are some of our paper aeroplanes.
In science this term Year 1 have been learning about sound waves. Sound waves are invisible and
travel through the air. Although we can’t see sound waves they are all around us all the time.
This week we made string telephones using a cup, paper clip and string. We held the string tight and
put the cup to our ear while the other person talked. The sound waves travelled through the
string. It really works!
Joe and Oscar are pictured below with their sting telephone.
