Introduction

What is meant by Malaysian Architecture?

Malaysian Architecture is about Malaysia and the way Malaysians live. By looking at the architecture, people will look at the building form which have elements like pattern, ornamentations and carvings. All of the elements act as an important role to reflect the characteristics of Malaysian.Malaysian. In a simple way to say, Malaysian architecture shows the daily life of Malaysian or the people’s aspiration. Indeed, Malaysia does create building designs which represent and reflect our aspiration. For example, Petronas Twin Tower well represented the growing of technology and economy of Malaysia. Besides, it becomes the famous icon of Malaysia nowadays too.

So,So, this book is created to show the Malaysian architecture buildings which show different design elements and principles. I hope you will ike it. :)

Petronas Twin TowerKuala Lumpur is a business centre in Malaysia nowadays, there are a lot of new and tall buildings around Kuala Lumpur City Center with Late Modernism and Postmodern Architecture. Petronas Twin Tower which designed by César Pelli is one of the example. However, even though this is a modern building, it combines with Islamic geometric motifs too. While we are standing from the street level and looking up,up, the all-glass shells of the building gives a post-modern motifs.

Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre which is next door to the Petronas Twin Tower, follows the Late Modernism and Postmodern themes too. The convention centre will have the shape of an eagle if viewed from above. Moreover, the all-glass shell of the building also gives a post-modern look.

From the picture above, it shows the design element of Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre is all about lines. However, there are only vertical lines and horizontal lines, but they bring out a different sense of design.

Unlike Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya is a growing new city, but there are a lot of interesting buildings were built at here. For example, the different materials of the building bring out a special and postmodern design.

Ministry of Woman, Familyand Community development

This is the other interesting building which is located in Putrajaya too. However, this is not like the other buildings that I had shown before which have all-glass shell, but this building fully use the design element, lines. The intersect of the lines and horizontal lines create a special and late modernism building.
