John S. Pemberton (July 8, 1831 – August 16,1888)

In 1885,He was wounded in the Battle of Columbus. ( a part of American Civil War)

He used morphine to ease the pain.

He became addicted to it.

He was interested in Vin Mariani, French tonic wine

containing kola nut (Cola) and Damiana. (a Mexican herbals)

He could use it for refreshment and cure morphine addiction

After that, he produced his own medicines “Pemberton's French Wine Coca”

It was mixed with coca leaf, kola nut

damiana It was very famous. The recipe is confidential

until now!

In 1886, he accidentally blended the base syrup with carbonated water and got a very delightful drink.The beverage was named Coca-Cola, selling for 5 cents a glass.

It was firstly bottled in 1894.

For more than 120 years,the concentrate was sold to licensed Coca-Cola bottlers throughout the world, including Thailand.
