Taralga: Taralga established in the 1860’s lies approx 45kms from Goulburn
amidst rolling plains north of the Cockbundoon Ranges. It is
approximately half way between Goulburn and the Wombeyan Caves.
Taralga can be regarded as an unspoilt heritage town with many well
preserved and restored buildings dating from the mid late 19th century
with a distinct architectural style. The stone used in the buildings was
not quarried, but cleared from the soil of pastures for miles around.
This has produced an architectural style unique to the town – not quite
Georgian not Victorian.
The population of Taralga has fluctuated from approximately 100 in
1863 to over 700 in 1893. The current population is some 370.
Taralga is a rural centre with its business and small industries catering
for the needs of primary producers. It has two hotels, cafes and
restaurants plus a licensed club. It is also developing as one of
Australia’s newest cool climate wine growing areas.
Goulburn: Goulburn developed over the past 170 years, as a centre of diverse
activity, which has led to its remarkable record of stability.
Goulburn is situated in the scenic Southern Tablelands of NSW and is
strategically located to provide a unique blend of City facilities and a
country lifestyle.
Goulburn covers an area of 43sq kms with a population of 22,500. The
surrounding districts boost the City population by a further 15,000
people.

important spheres of tertiary and secondary industry to provide the
City's firm economic foundations.
The wide ranging commercial and professional sectors more than

Goulburn's secondary industry is based on a mix of private and
Government enterprise. In the private sector, firms engaged in wool

building related undertakings, retail distribution, concrete products
and air-conditioning can be found. State and Federal Government
