Coastal Source is the brainchild of the D’Ascanio brothers: Tony, Franco and Amedeo. Their company, D’Asign Source, has been building and designing waterfront estate properties in the Florida Keys for over 50 years. The brutal coastal conditions in the Keys challenged D’Asign Source to create homes that could endure this environment. Still, the D’Ascanio brothers knew they could do better for their demanding clien-tele. Many top-quality products simply did not last when exposed to the sun, salt, moisture and wind that is a constant on the coast. Starting in the 1970’s they experimented with new construction methods, landscaping designs and materials. Their goal? To produce the ultimate, turn-key, low-maintenance coastal home. In the late 1980’s, the Keys and Caribbean experienced a cyclical increase in storm activity and corrosive damage. In the years that followed they tracked every detail regarding plants living in coastal conditions. This research offered tremen-dous insight into plants that are more salt, drought and storm tolerant. In 1995 they opened a nursery, D’Asign Source Botanicals, to address this need. Today the nursery is internationally known for coastal specimen plants. With superior construction techniques, sturdy architectural details and more tolerant plants incorporated into every D’Asign Source project, the focus shifted once again. Exterior fixtures, hardware and accessories that would stand up to the harsh coastal environment were needed badly. After thorough investigation, testing and real world trials it was apparent that most manufacturing companies only addressed this market in a superficial way and did not stand behind their products. Not satisfied with industry standards, the brothers invested in staff and equipment to truly become the leader in coastal quality products for the home. Equipment such as X-Ray Fluorescence testers allowed for instant identification of metals that were often misrepresented by manufactur-ers. Salt spray chambers were used to create hyper-corrosive conditions to test hundreds of raw materials and finished products. After years of extensive research, design, building and testing they finally had the technology and methodology necessary to produce a full line of truly coastal quality products. But how would they ever be able to produce and distribute these exceptional products in a meaningful way?

To help bring these products to market the D’Ascanio’s partnered with long-time clients, the Zimmermann family. The Zimmermanns own and operate the Artcraft Group and brought the needed sales, manufac-turing, and logistics expertise that was necessary to introduce these products on a large scale. More importantly, they shared the same family business ethics and passion for quality in all of their endeavors.

The curvaceous exterior of our electropolished stainless steel transformer prevents standing water and rust with very little maintenance.
