1. Introduction
The Co-operative Academy of Professional Education (CAPE) is an
autonomous societyregistered in 1999 under the Travancore-Cochin
Literary, Scientific and Charitable SocietiesAct, 1955 on the basis
of the Memorandum of Association and the Rules approved by
theGovernment of Kerala and promoted by the Co-operation
Department, Government ofKerala. The Co-operative Academy of
Professional Education (CAPE) is aiming to establishEducational
Institutions in various professional fields to provide facilities
and promoteEducation and Training. The Hon'ble Chief Minister of
Kerala is the Ex-Officio Chairman ofthe Society. The Hon'ble
Minister for Co-operation is the Ex-Officio Vice Chairman and
theChairman of the Board of Governors, with the Director of the
Academy as the MemberSecretary of the society.

3. Prospectus
CAPE Prospectus 2017 sets out the general information and rules
relating to the selectionand admission under NRI quota for the B.
Tech courses offered in the Engineering Collegesunder CAPE.
3.1 The candidates seeking admission to B. Tech courses under
NRI quota are advised to gothrough the CAPE Prospectus 2017
carefully and acquaint themselves with the relevantinformation
relating to the admission. Details of the admission under NRI quota
are alsoavailable in the CAPE website- www.capekerala.org and also
in the websites of therespective Engineering Colleges. The CAPE
Prospectus is valid only for the academic year2017-18. The CAPE
Prospectus 2017 is subject to modification/ addition/deletion, as
the casemay be deemed necessary by the Executive Committee of
CAPE.

district. Thiruvananthapuram formerly known as Trivandrum, is the

2. COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, PERUMON
The College is located in a vast area of 25 acres of land on the
banks of the Ashtamudi Lakewith a picturesque and serene ambience
at Perumon in Panayam Panchayath in KollamDistrict. The College is
about 12 kms from the city of Kollam.
The College started functioningduring the academic year
2000-2001and is affiliated to APJ Abdul KalamTechnological
University forconducting B.Tech and M.Techcourses.
The College has made it a pleasingpractice to hunt most of
the
university ranks to its achievement file in all disciplines from
the beginning itself.Right from the first batch itself the college
has been rated high for its academicexcellence among the various
colleges. The Institution has a full fledged Training
&Placement Cell (TPC) which dedicates itself to help students
to develop theirpersonality and establish their careers. The
activities of TPC include preparing thestudents to face Competitive
Examinations and Interviews through intensivetraining. TPC is
constantly in touch with companies and offers all facilities
forconducting recruitment. 36-students of this College have been

during the year-2015. TEQIP has beenimplemented in this college.
Out of 12 passed out batches so far the college has secured
38University ranks. Four students of M-Tech Computer and
Information Science of this collegehave secured four University
ranks (1,2,9 &10) during the year-2015. The College library
iswell equipped with RFID based library security system for round
the clockprotection of the library books which is the First

the academicyear 2011-2012 and is affiliated to APJAbdul Kalam
Technological University.The College is located at Elikkatoor,near

Development (CERD) (total worth of Rs. 2 Lakhs).College of
Engineering Pathanapuram is the first and only college other than

from CERD. The collegehas a well-established Career Guidance and

year 2000 - 2001 atKidangoor in Kottayam district of Kerala. The

The College of Engineering, Vadakara is the first Engineering
College established by CAPE,during the academic year 1999-2000 and
is affiliated to A.P.J Abdul Kalam TechnologicalUniversity. The

The College of Engineering Trikaripur is a fast growing
Engineering College in NorthKerala. It is situated at Cheemeni on
25.66 acre of land in the Kayyur – CheemeniPanchayath, 0.6 km north
of Cheemeni Town on Cheemeni - Podavur road in Kasaragoddistrict.
The nearest railway station, Cheruvathur is 9 km away from Cheemeni

The student of this college havebagged many University rank
inthe various branches ofEngineering which includes Firstrank in
Civil Engineering (2010-14batch), Third rank in computerScience and
Engineering (2010-14batch) and Second rank in CivilEngineering
(2011-15). The

software etc. The college hasfacilities for conducting seminars and
workshops. Well furnished seminar halls with LCDprojector and
interview rooms are few to be mentioned. The college takes part in
varioussports and games conducted by CUSAT. The students also
represented CUSAT team invarious sports items. The college chess
team is runners up in the intercollegiate competitionheld by CUSAT.
The NSS unit of the college frequently conducts special camps and
activitiesin the nearby villages and localities. The college is
having broadband Internet facility fromthe BSNL and the entire
campus is Wi-Fi enabled. The college Library is full fledged
withsufficient numbers of books and titles and subscribed for
e-journals. TEQIP has beenimplemented in this college. The College
is having ladies hostel to accommodate morethan 100 students. The

5.1 Admission
The process of admission to the B.Tech courses under NRI quota
offered in the EngineeringColleges under CAPE will be made by the
Principals of concerned Engineering collegesunder the supervision
of the Director, CAPE for which a merit list will be prepared
andpublished in each Institution from among the applications
received from eligible candidates.
5.1.1 Those who have taken admission to B.Tech courses under NRI
quota shall not be permittedto change Branch or College under any
circumstances.
5.1.2 5% of the total seats sanctioned by the AICTE / UGC / Govt
of Kerala/ A.P.J Abdul KalamTechnological University in each of the
B.Tech courses are exclusively available under NRIquota(Revised as
per G.O (RT) No.29/2017/Co-op dated 18.01.2017)

6. Academic eligibility for admission
Generally, Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary
Examination of Board of HigherSecondary Education, Kerala or
examination recognized equivalent thereto, with 50% marksin
Mathematics separately, and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and
Chemistry puttogether are eligible for admission to B.Tech
courses.
However, candidates who have passed Higher Secondary
Examination, Kerala, orExaminations recognized as equivalent
thereto, with 45% marks in Mathematics, Physicsand Chemistry put
together are also eligible for admission.
In case, the candidate has not studied Chemistry, the marks
obtained in Computer Scienceshall be considered. In case, the
candidate has not studied Chemistry and Computer Science,the marks
obtained in Biotechnology shall be considered. In case, the
candidate has notstudied Chemistry, Computer Science and
biotechnology, the marks obtained in Biologyshall be considered.
The marks as shown in the mark list of the Board of
Examinationobtained from the respective Higher Secondary Board
shall be considered for academiceligibility.
7. Relaxation in marks
SC/ST candidates need only a pass in the qualifying examination
for admission to B.Tech course.
8. Other eligibility criteria
No entrance test is required for getting admission to B.Tech
course under NRI quota.
8.1 Candidates seeking admission to B.Tech course under NRI
quota should be a Child/ Ward/Dependent of an NRI and should
enclose a declaration obtained from the NRI who sponsorthe
applicant (form enclosed as Annexure-I)
8.2 Copy of the following documents duly attested by a Gazetted
Officer of Central/State Government to prove the NRI status should
be enclosed with the application form.
i. Employment certificate of the NRI.
ii. Relevant pages of the passport containing Visa details.
iii. Certificate issued by a Scheduled Bank stating that he/she
is a Non Resident Indian holding NRI Account other than a Zero
balance account.
9. Age limit
Applicants should have completed 17 years of age as on
31.12.2017 . No age relaxation inthe minimum age will be
allowed.

10. Application form & fee
The application form for admission to B.Tech courses can either
be downloaded from thewebsite: capekerala.org or from the official
website of CAPE Engineering Colleges (please seeClause 4 of the
CAPE Prospectus for website address of Engineering colleges).
The application fee for B.Tech courses under NRI quota seats
will be Rs.600/- which shallbe remitted only by way of Demand Draft
drawn on State Bank of Travancore in favourof the Principal of
concerned Engineering Colleges.
Separate applications with prescribed fee shall be submitted to
each College if admissionis sought for in more than one Engineering
College.
10.1 No fee concession shall be allowed to SC/ST/SEBC/OBC/OEC
candidates. Application fee once remitted shall not be refunded
under any circumstances. Applications without application fee will
summarily be rejected.
10.2 Receipt of application
The completed application together with application fee of
Rs.600/- and all supportingdocuments attested by a Gazetted Officer
shall be submitted to the office of the Principals ofconcerned
Engineering Colleges. (Please see Clause-4 of the Prospectus, for
thecommunication address of the Engineering Colleges)
10.3 The candidates are advised to send the applications by
Registered Post. CAPE or itsInstitutions cannot be held responsible
for non-receipt or late receipt of applications, underany
circumstances.
Late and incomplete applications without supporting documents
and the applications notin the prescribed form will summarily be
rejected.
10.4 Without prejudice to the directions of the Government of
Kerala / University to which thecolleges are affiliated and AICTE
as the case may be, CAPE has absolute powers to decideon all
matters related to admission and its decision shall be final.
11. Course Fee
The following rate of Tuition Fee are prescribed for the B.Tech
course under NRI quota forthe year 2017-18, as was followed in the
previous academic year till any modificationordered by the
Government of Kerala.
No fee exemption/concession will be allowed to candidates
seeking admission under NRI
quota.

11.1. Remittance of Tuition fee: The candidates who are selected
for admission to B.Tech courseunder NRI quota shall remit the
prescribed Tuition fee and Refundable Deposit at the timeof
admission/ allotment itself to the concerned Engineering College by
way of DemandDraft drawn in favour of the Principal payable at
branches of SBT where the college issituated. In addition to the
annual tuition fee, candidates are required to remit Special feesas
applicable before the commencement of 1st year classes, which will
be informed by theHead of the Institutions.
12. Refund of Fee on cancellation of admission
As per clause 12.2.4(a) & (b) of KEAM Prospectus.
13. Preventive measures against Ragging
According to the Kerala Prohibition of Ragging Act 1998,
`ragging` means doing any act by disorderly conduct to a student of
an education institution, which causes or is likely to cause
physical or psychological harm or raising apprehension or shame or
embarrassment to that student and includes teasing or abusing or
playing practical jokes or causing hurt to such students or asking
a student to do any act or to perform something which such
studentwill not in the ordinary course be willing to do.
13.1 All institutions will have to abide by the directives of
the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India,dated May 16, 2007 in SLP No (S)
24295 of 2006 University of Kerala Vs Council,
Principals`,Colleges, Kerala & Others [with SLP © no.
24296-99/2004 & W.P (Crl) No. 173/2006 & SLP (c)No.
14356/2005] and the recommendations approved by the Hon’ble Supreme
Court ofIndia on effective prevention of ragging in educational
institutions.
13.2 It shall be the collective responsibility of the authority
of the institution to see to it thateffective steps for preventing
ragging are taken. Anti-ragging committees and anti-raggingsquad
will have to be formed to take effective measures against ragging
and they shouldadhere to the stipulations and effectively monitor
and comply with the directives.
13.3 Each of the student and his/her parents, or guardian are
required to submit a combinedundertaking at the time of
registration/admission in the prescribed format available
inAnnexure- II of the Prospectus which is mandatory for
registration/admission.
13.4 Candidates applying for B.Tech courses in the
self-financing Colleges under CAPE shouldproduce a Physical Fitness
Certificate in the Proforma given in Annexure-III, at the time
ofadmission.
