Co-op Newsletter April 2018 March is one of our peak business months and this year has been no exception. We’ve got some good deals available this month with our focus on fencing, drench deals and grass seed for our long suffering members waiting for autumn rains. We enjoyed catching up with our Smithton members to celebrate the first anniversary of our local store. We particularly appreciate the great feedback we receive from Circular Head members on the great service members get from local staff there. Well done Robyn and Ian. Smithton Dinner Thanks to the suppliers and members who supported the First Anniversary Dinner for the Smithton Store held recently in Smithton. A full house, excellent guest speaker and good company contributed to the highly successful night. As mentioned on the night it’s a celebration of a highly successful year of operation of our Smithton Store. This success is attributed to the great work of Robyn, Ian and Bec locally and the magnificent support our Circular Head members have given our Co-op in the past year. Our guest speaker Mark Harris Global Marketing Manager for Gallagher gave a very informative presentation on the challenges facing farmers not only in New Zealand but internationally, judging by the long queues of members waiting to talk to Mark after the dinner it was well received. Thanks to the suppliers who supported the night in particular Gallagher with national CEO Malcolm Linn attending and for their generous prizes given to members on the night. It’s encouraging to see the enthusiasm and support of the Co-op by our members in the area. Your support in making this event such a great success will ensure we look for future opportunities to repeat this function. Chairman Rod Rylah addressing members at the Smithton Members Function Mark Harris our guest speaker summed up the spirit of the evening well in one remark. Commenting on the strong sense of community and the passion members and staff had for their Co-op, Mark quipped that “its almost more a Cult than a Co- op”. Coming from a person who travels the world talking to farmer groups its high praise. Autumn Promotion Pricing – in both stores members will note 2 Co-op autumn Sales catalogues. One is a customized AIRR catalogue and the second is an instore promotion designed with TruTest. Members should be aware that all pricing in these catalogues is retail pricing to the public. Both members and non members have access to these catalogues so to avoid confusion we publish with retail prices only. As good as these advertised prices are; member prices will be significantly below these prices. Member Recognition In the last few weeks we’ve had the farming operations of two long standing member’s highlighted on Landline. Congratulations to the Roberts Thomson family at Table Cape and the Frankcombe family at Yolla for 2 pretty inspiring stories. A big thankyou to Bec Frankcombe in particular who proudly wore her Yolla Co-op hat during the interview. L-R Leearn McNamara, Jenny Dolly, Brad Rigney

Smithton Dinner Thanks to the suppliers and

A full house, excellent guest speaker and good company contributed to the highly successful night. Chairman Rod Rylah addressing members at the Smithton Members Function
Mark Harris our guest speaker summed up the spirit of the evening well in one remark. Commenting on the strong sense of community and the passion members and staff had for their Co-op, Mark quipped that “its almost more a Cult than a Co-op”. Coming from a person who travels the world talking to farmer groups its high praise.

Member Recognition In the last few weeks we’ve had
the farming operations of two long standing member’s highlighted on Landline. Congratulations to the Roberts Thomson family at Table Cape and the Frankcombe family at Yolla for 2 pretty inspiring stories. A big thankyou to Bec Frankcombe in particular who proudly wore her Yolla Co-op hat during the interview.
Congratulations to everyone involved in the celebration of the first year anniversary of our store in Smithton recently. Smithton members certainly came out in force to support the sold out evening . On behalf of your Directors thanks for your tremendous support of our Smithton store and staff. As mentioned on the evening we’re delighted with the sales turnover and membership growth we’ve experienced in Smithton recently. A big thank you also to the many Wynyard staff who attended the evening to support their fellow Smithton staff and our members. In early March the Co-op held a strategic planning workshop conducted by Victorian consultant Patten Bridge. The
focus of the workshop was on innovative ways where the Co-op can add value to our members businesses into the future. Thanks to everyone who participated. A lot of great opportunities for the Co-op were discussed on the day. In the next few months as we progress through these ideas we update members on our progress. Our next big event on our Co-op calendar is the Open Day in May and the Board is working with staff to ensure we produce another memorable event for our members again this year.
