CND holds its 63 rd session The 63 rd session of the Commission on Narcoc Drugs, held from 2 to 6 March 2020 in Vienna was aended by nearly 1,500 parcipants represenng more than 130 Member States, 17 intergovernmental organizaons and almost 100 non-governmental organizaons. In addion to the formal proceedings, around 100 side events were organized on the margins of the Commission. The Commission adopted five resoluons, covering a wide range of topics. Further, in 15 decisions, the Com- mission added 13 substances to the internaonal drug control convenons, took a procedural decision on the consideraons of the WHO recommendaons on canna- bis and cannabis-related substances and endorsed the improved and streamlined annual report quesonnaire. Consultaons on WHO scheduling commendaons on cannabis and cannabis-related substances, follow up to CND Decision 63/14 In CND Decision 63/14, the Commission recalled its mandate to vote on scheduling recommendaons as laid out in the internaonal drug control convenons and decided to conn- ue during its current 63rd session the consideraon of the recommendaons of the WHO on cannabis and cannabis- related substances, bearing in mind their complexity, in order to clarify the implicaons and consequences of, as well as the reasoning for, these recommendaons, and decided to vote at its reconvened 63rd session in December 2020, in order to preserve the integrity of the internaonal scheduling system. In line with the Chair’s proposal, endorsed by the Extended Bureau on 22 May 2020, the Commission connues consider- aons in three topical meengs and one intersessional meeng. The first topical meeng on recommendaons 5.4 and 5.5 was held virtually on 24 and 25 June 2020.
