This special year of grace ends November 20, 2016 with the great Solem- nity of Christ the King. This year is not like any other, we should not let it pass without making a special effort to celebrate this gift of mercy with ourselves seeking God’s mercy and being merciful to others. If we haven’t been to confession for some time, this is the time. We can also get out of our comfort zones and invite those who have been away from the Church to come back through the Sacrament of Reconciliation where God’s mer- cy is poured out to wipe away our sins and to heal us. The following ex- cerpt is from the Papal Document that launched this year of extraordi- nary grace with a particular focus on looking at today’s parables of mer- cy. “In the parables devoted to mercy, Jesus reveals the nature of God as that of a Father who never gives up until he has forgiven the wrong and overcome rejection with compassion and mercy. We know these parables well, three in particular: the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the father with two sons (cf.Lk15:132). In these parables, God is always presented as full of joy, especially when he pardons. In them we ind the core of the Gospel and of our faith, because mercy is presented as a force that over- comes everything, illing the heart with love and bringing consolation through pardon.” (Misericordiae Vultus #9) ~ Deacon Luis RubiReadings for the Week of September 11, 2016Sunday: Ex 32:711, 1314/Ps 51:34, 1213, 17, 19/1 Tm 1:1217/ Lk 15:132 or 15:110Monday: 1 Cor 11:1726, 33/Ps 40:710, 17/Lk 7:110Tuesday: 1 Cor 12:1214, 2731a/Ps 100:15/Lk 7:1117Wednesday: Nm 21:4b9/Ps 78:12, 3438/Phil 2:611/Jn 3:1317Thursday: 1 Cor 15:111/Ps 118:12, 1617, 28/Jn 19:2527 or Lk 2:3335Friday: 1 Cor 15:1220/Ps 17:1, 68, 15/Lk 8:13Saturday: 1 Cor 15:3537, 4249/Ps 56:1014/Lk 8:415Next Sunday: Am 8:47/Ps 113:12, 48/1 Tm 2:18/Lk 16:113 or 16:1013Adoration ChapelThank you to all who volunteer to keep watch with our Lord. FaithFormationVolunteersNeeded! The St. Ma1hew and St. Michael Faith Forma2on program for public school stu-
dents in grades 1 to 10 will resume in late September, and we have openings for
teachers and helpers. Volunteers should enjoy helping children know, love, and
serve Jesus and their neighbor, as they learn more about their Catholic faith. Classes
are held at St. Mahew on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:45 PM between Sep-
tember and April. Books and supplies are provided. In addi2on to the regular volun-
teers who come on Wednesday evenings, our Faith Forma2on program needs occa-
sional helpers in various roles (mostly hospitality) during the school year. The 2me
commitment can be as lile as 3 hours for one day or one evening. To find out more
call, Janelle Rohr 6514573522 or jdrohr@prons.net. !
