#NPLNSWCLUB WELCOME

Welcome to Belmore Sports Ground for our Round 10 fixture against Wollongong

Wolves.

Firstly, Happy Mother’s day to all, we hope you have a wonderful day and thank you for everything you do to support your children playing football.

Our First Grade squad are on top of the ladder after a strong win away against Sutherland Sharks FC. Our Under 20’s turned in an excellent performance, beating the League leaders 2- 1 and the Under 18’s took their first points of the season with a draw, capping off a great day for the club. We are working hard to ensure the momentum of last weekend continues today and for the remainder of the season.

Last week our Women’s program, experienced a clean sweep of wins against Southern Branch, which keeps our first grade squad on top of the ladder and as a club we remain first in the Club Championship. This week we play Inter-Lions in what are always competitive matches.

Our Men’s youth squads had a tough and competitive day against Western Sydney Wanderers, with only our Under 15 squad, coached by Eric Hristodoulou recording a 3–1 victory.

Our Boys and Girls SAP programs played St George FC and Blacktown Spartans respectively. All matches were very competitive and our squads performed excellently against some strong opposition.

Congratulations to our Special K player of the weekend Danielle Calvi from our First Grade squad who scored four first half goals in our win against Southern Branch and our Conquest SAP player of the week Cristian Lombardo from the Under 10 boys for great performances.

We would like to welcome all our sponsors, season pass holders and supporters today and thank them for their ongoing support. A club cannot exist without these people and we look forward to working with you to continue the growth of our Club both this season and into the future.

We have experienced a great start to the season and we need your help to continue this momentum, bring your family and friends and come out and watch the team in action this Sunday at Belmore.

NPLNSW.COM.AU 1ST GRADE MATCH PREVIEW

League leaders Sydney Olympic have a chance to stretch their advantage at the top when

they take on Wollongong Wolves on Sunday.

Olympic’s impressive performances this season have helped them to rise to the top of the pile, which has been made more impressive when considering they lost their coach on the cusp of the season.

New boss Abbas Saad has Olympic playing an exciting brand of football lead by captain and midfield dynamo Max Burgess.

A 3-0 win against Sutherland last round was another huge victory for Olympic and they appear to be going from strength to strength.

Their opponents this week are a Wollongong Wolves side who are desperate to provide a better return on investment for their star studded lineup.

Wollongong has hit a mid season slump with their early season winning form seemingly long gone.

Yuzo Tashiro rescued a 1-1 draw last round against Manly but they will need a much better showing if they are going to get the win this week.

#NPLNSWMATCH REVIEWSSutherland Sharks 0 – Sydney Olympic 3 at Seymour Shaw

Sydney Olympic has moved to top spot in the National Premier Leagues NSW competition after thrashing Sutherland Sharks 3-0 at Seymour Shaw on Saturday.

A screamer from Radovan Pavicevic and a double from Jason Madonis did the damage for Olympic as they cruised to a comprehensive win on the back of an impressive second half performance.

It wasn’t all one way traffic with the Sharks holding firm for the opening 45 minutes as both teams went into the interval scoreless.

However, Olympic were in too good form to be denied and Pavicevic’s 55th minute strike opened the floodgates as the visitors raced away to secure a vital three competition points and top spot on the ladder.

Wollongong Wolves FC 1 – Manly United 1 at WIN Stadium

Wollongong Wolves have clawed their way back to a 1-1 draw with Manly United after a spirited late revival at WIN Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

A dominant second half display had the Manly on course for three points with Sasa Macura’s beautiful strike from the outside box appearing decisive.

The Wolves, however, refused to roll over, throwing numbers forward to stage a late comeback which allowed Yuzo Tashiro to head his side level in the last minute of normal time.

The hosts went close to snatching a win late on, yet the points were shared in a match that both teams will draw positives from.

NPLNSW.COM.AU U20’S MATCH PREVIEW

Sydney Olympic lifted themselves off the bottom of the ladder thanks to a shock 2-1

win over Sutherland Sharks last round and will no doubt be buoyed ahead of their match up with Wollongong Wolves at Belmore on Sunday lunchtime.

Olympic registered the biggest upset win of the campaign to breathe new life into what’s been an underwhelming season for the Blues so far. However, for all Olympic’s struggles, back to back victories would see the Belmore club potentially climb toward mid-table and position themselves on the precipice of the top five, such is the congested nature of the table after nine rounds.

Wollongong were also handed a shock defeat in round nine at the hands on Manly United and the Wolves know they can’t afford another loss with a host of teams breathing down their necks. The South Coast outfit will hope top scorer Tory Musumeci, who has netted six goals in nine matches this season, fires the visitors back in form on Sunday.
