The CFCNSJ was created in 1951 and wad in charge of the Samoyed and
other Nordic breeds. Later, the Japanese breeds were added to the pack. Nowadays, the CFCNSJ is in charge of 27 different breeds. The biggest breeds represented are Samoyed, Akita, Shiba and Lapinkoira.
The Icelandic Sheepdog represents a small part of the puppies born in France, but the number is strongly increasing since 2015. A lot of dogs was imported in 2014 from other countries and new breeders appears. At this moment, we have very few members with Icelandic Sheepdogs. Most of the dogs are pet dogs and people are not really interested in Show, and the Breed Club is strongly associated with dog show here.
The early first litter of Icelandic sheepdogs was born in France in 1985, out of 2 imported dogs from Iceland: Skessa Fra Olafsvollum (IS00095/79) and Eirikur Raudi Fra Olafsvollum (IS00099/79). This first line is always used today.
Births in France increase strongly the last 3 years and goes over 100 puppies per year.
Statistics from the start to 31/12/2017 Inscriptions in the french book (LOF) : 698
Further comments: Imported dogs are registered only when they pass the breeding examination (confirmation). All other imported dogs are not registered. List of imported dogs : Registation Name Date of birth

*Jolnir is still a young dog. He has no grandchildren registered in 2017. But He will have in 2018 and is still largely used in his kennel of living. As our national Kennel Club (Société Centrale Canine - SCC) don’t impose a limit for breeding unless the “confirmation” (breeding permission), he will probably continue that way. ** These 5 dogs are the fathers of 352 puppies (at 31/12/2017), it represents 52.77% from the total of births in the country till the start of the breed here.

Further comments: The CFCNSJ write new breeding rules in the end of 2017. There is ask to not go over 6 litters for a female in her whole life (after 20 months and before 8 years), not to go over 6.25% of inbreeding (on 3 generations). However… Only the SCC can make it apply. And it is not the case yet.
Other hereditary eye diseases: Further comments: No official information available As Eye examination is not an obligation, people don’t send results to the Club
