WORDS OF WISDOM

Words can Heal and Words can Harm

Words are very important. Words can heal and words can harm. Words can hurt grievously and for a long time. The tongue can bless and the tongue can curse. It is very important for us to control our words and tame our tongue when we are angry. Many times, when we are angry we say the most atrocious things. We forget ourselves and become indifferent to what we say. We blast the other person without mercy, although we may not mean those words. But words once spoken cannot be taken back and it takes a long time to forgive and forget. We have to exercise self-control. Many couples are particularly prone to such outbursts when they get mad. But it is not an easy thing to control our tongue when we are provoked, boiled over with anger or have outburst of wrath. It is at such time that we have to learn to hold our tongue and to remain silent.

Message

by SVP Susan Ringol

Greetings to all!! How time flies…. it was not very long time ago when I was a reluctant president in your midst. Now as the curtain closes this rotary year, I am the happiest person in this club. Not just because my term is ending in a few months and we have accomplished many projects which were well supported by our members, also because our president-elect is raring to go and lead the club.

Last March 6, 2010, PE Ana was with at the District Literacy Conference and on March 19 & 20 she attended the District Conference. She was also able to complete her special session of PETS. And to top it all, she already implemented her first Literacy Project last March 23, 2010 at Guzman College. It only shows that she is well prepared and ready to take the helm to lead the Club for the rotary year 2010-11. In this regard, let us show our support by attending the DISTAS with her on May 8, 2010 at AIM Conference Center. This will be from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. Here, the role of the officers will be explained in the break out sessions for a more effective club management. Let us also support PE Ana by attending our planning meetings which will start on May 5 onwards. Let us be there as our PE lays down her proposed projects for the next rotary year. But as they say.. “all work and no play makes Johnny a dull boy”.. so let’s take a break and give ourselves a pat on the back for our accomplishments this rotary year. Let’s celebrate and hold our fellowship on May 16, 2010 at Puerto Azul Beach Resort. Bring your family as well, so they would be our witness in our awarding of tokens to our club members who will be recognized for their worthy contribution and participation towards the attainment of our club goals. Last but not the least, please accept my deep gratitude for your support and cooperation without which our club cannot accomplish anything. And my congratulations to all our club members for successfully keeping our Club alive and kicking!!

Let us move on to our next goal -- to make our club grow as we continue to serve and be an inspiration to others, for the Future of Rotary is in our Hands!!
