Identification is due by May 15. To enter non-weigh in species, you will need to log into your 4-H Online family rec- ord and add the needed information to the Animal ID for each member’s record. Weigh-In animals were entered by county extension staff after their weigh-in. It is the responsibility of the member to log into 4-H Online to verify that all infor- mation is correct. Information that is not verified by the member within the verifi- cation time frame will be locked and will not be able to be changed after May 15. For registered animals, a copy of the registration is REQUIRED. Please bring in a copy of the registration paper that we can keep at the office. Please turn these in with your fair entry by June 1. If you have questions about this process feel free to contact the Howard County Extension Office. Each 4-H member is responsible for entering their own ID’s. Directions and help sheets are at www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/ enrollment/help.htm Don’t Wait Until the Last Minute to Enter ID’s!!! The 2018 Howard County Fair is just over six weeks away! Hopefully all of your Livestock Identifications are getting into 4HOnline by the May 15th deadline. Your leaders will be receiving your fair entry forms at their meeting on May 21st, so be sure to make sure to contact them so that you can get them turned in by the June 1st deadline. Also, congratulations to our Spring Fair participants & 2018 graduating Seniors! I love what I see in Howard County and can’t wait to see it grow even more! -Kelli Steinlage, Howard County CYC

Using Pinterest
Pinterest is a popular source for getting project ideas. How-
ever, you need to make sure when sourcing you are getting
down to where it originated from. Be sure to cite the correct
site when documenting where your information/idea came
from. If you have a hard time finding the original source,
contact the Extension Office!
If you plan to use a display to illustrate what you learned,
remember size guidelines refer to ALL project areas. Post-
ers can’t be larger than 24” x 36” and display boards can’t
exceed 48” x 48” (flat). Boxes can’t exceed 28” x 22” in
height or width and 12” in depth.

Don’t Forget Project Write-Ups!
4-H’ers! Don’t forget to create a write-up on your fair exhib-its! This write-up shouldn’t be long, but easy to read as the judge only has a few minutes to review the write-up. The
write-up should include the following:
1. Cover Page-Include the following
Picture of the final exhibit
Name, county, club, age, years in 4-H
Class the exhibit is in
2. Report answering the following questions:
1. What did you plan to learn (goal)?
2. What steps did you take to accomplish your goal?
3. What were the most important things you learned?
4. Cost of the project
3. Pictures of youth completing the project

Congratulations 2018 Spring Fair Participants!! Howard County 4-H held the 2018 “Your Passport to Adventure” Spring Fair on Saturday, April 7 at the NICC Cresco Center. Over 55
youth presented over 50 exhibits, including educational presentations, working exhibits, share-the-fun acts, and clothing events! Con-
gratulations to everyone on a job well done! A huge shout out to all the judges, coordinators, county council members, and volunteers
for their help in making the day run smoothly. I encourage ALL 4-H members to participate in next year’s Spring Fair. It is a great way
to showcase what you are doing in school, topics you’re interested in, clothing that you chose to wear, and anything that makes you
excited!
