What are clouds?
Clouds are made up of small water or ice droplets.

Cirrus clouds
Cirrus clouds are found high in the sky and look like horse’s tails.
Since they are found high in the sky they are made up of ice crystals.

What type of weather do Cirrus clouds bring?
Cirrus clouds are usually called fair weather clouds because they are a sign of good weather.

Cumulus clouds
Cumulus clouds are the big puffy “cotton ball” clouds.
These are the clouds you usually try and see shapes with.

What type of precipitation do Cumulus clouds bring?
Some cumulus clouds called Cumulonimbus or “Thunderheads” can bring thunderstorms. These clouds can produce lightning, thunder, and even tornadoes.

Stratus clouds
Stratus clouds are low lying clouds.
They usually look like a blanket covering the sky.

What type of weahter do Status clouds bring?
Stratus clouds usually mean that either rain or snow is coming depending on the temperature.

Mammatus Clouds
Mammatus clouds can form when there are cumulonimbus clouds above them.
They can look like a package of cotton balls squeezed together.

What type of weather do Mammatus clouds bring?
Since Mammatus clouds are associated with Cumulonimbus clouds they usually mean that severe weather is coming.

Lenticular Clouds
Lenticular clouds are found near mountains and a formed by wind .
They look like an alien spaceship.

What type of weather do Lenticular clouds bring?
Lenticular clouds can produce small amounts of precipitation but they usually not associated with any server weather.

Fog
Even though Fog is not in the sky it is still a cloud.
It is made up of tiny water droplets.
