This is the nest of a striped tail hummingbird. She collects moss, lichen, spider web string and fern hair to make this exquisite home where she will lay two eggs. In order to keep the babies warm, the materials used allow the nest to expand as the babies grow.

Although it may be difficult to tell, this is a howler monkey who is high up in the canopy. It is the 2nd largest monkey in Costa Rica. He was swinging through the trees but didn’t show his face.

We were high in the Monteverde cloud forest---elevation 5223 feet.

This is an orange knee tarantula.
