« Bring trust in the Cloud »

Page 2: Cloud computing

The Cloud is “Hype”

The Cloud has mainly emerged to meet requirements concerning • continuity• service quality• mobility

To meet diversification• of platforms (PC, Thin PC, Laptop, Tablet, Mobile Phone)• of OS (Windows XP78; Mac Os x, Linux, Androïd)

Stimulated by the “consumer” Cloud adoption

The Cloud is “Hype”

And certainly thanks to• the maturity of virtualisation & consolidation technologies

• the increase of connection performances

Page 4: Cloud computing

History

At the beginning of 2000, the concept was known as ASP The first applications having migrated into the clouds:

• messaging (MSN, Hotmail, Skynet,…); • collaboration tools & CRM (Salesforce); • test environments (Amazon Web Services).

10 years later, (almost) everything can be accessed through the Net

Commodity

How to implement an application in a company?•Servers, backup, UPS are purchased...•New server and client licenses are added...•Finally, services are purchased to execute and maintain the whole!

Result•A very large amount of time & budget goes to infrastructure.•This kind of infrastructure is of no economic interest to the company.

Page 6: Cloud computing

The concept of IT in the cloud can be compared to that of current distribution• Specialized companies offer processing power and data storage capacity

to the consumer, which is invoiced according to actual consumption. • This way, companies do not need dedicated servers anymore, but entrust

this resource to a company which guarantees them on-demand processing power and storage capacity.

Concept presentation

CLOUD Computing should already be considered as a “COMMODITY”, BUT …

Page 7: Cloud computing

The Cloud: 3-level availability• application ► in contact with the client

• platform ► executes the application

• infrastructure ► platform support

These 3 levels are also known as:• Software as a Service (SaaS)

• Platform as a Service (PaaS)

• Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)

CLOUD advantages

• Great architecture and service flexibility • On-demand volume (Up & Down)

• Shorter project implementation time

Increased company flexibility

• “Pay-as-you-go” model as compared to purchase or renting

• Transforms IT-expenses from CAPEX to OPEX

Lower investments

• Focuses your employees on their competences and added value to the

company

Re-focus on “core business”

• PC, Portable, Thin client, Tablet, Mobile phone,…

Anywhere, Anytime on Any device
